Aloha Fridays are brought to you by Kailani from An Island Life. Over there in Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So Kailani thought that on Fridays she would take it easy on posting, too. So, for Aloha Friday, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Answer my question and put one of your own up on your blog. Link up and check out other blogs that participate at An Island Life.
What kinds of things do you pack in your kids lunches to keep it interesting? If you don't have any kids that are of school age, what would you pack in their lunch?
Now that Oscar is starting First Grade next week I will be forced to pack him a lunch for school everyday. I want to try to keep it interesting besides just a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, fruit snacks and water. I am not really sure what else will keep besides a sandwich, so I am a little stumped. So, that is why my question to you is, what kinds of things do you pack in your kids lunches to keep it interesting?

I send grapes, apple slices, apple sauce, carrot sticks, raisins, sm amounts of chips (like only a couple!), chocolate mile long shelf milk that is super cold & even occasionally, a salad. That being said, my daughter is super picky & has just discovered that small amounts of spinach on her ham & swiss tastes pretty good. I'm really trying to help her make healthier choices!
I will be back to read all your answers because I could use some tips on this.
He gets a sandwich, rice cake, pretzels, and a cookie. lol
I think I'll be checking back later to get some ideas as well :)
Aloha Friday!

Have a great Friday!
They are horribly processed and loaded with preservatives and sodium!
I read a great post about lunch ideas from Jo-Lynne at Musings of a Housewife. She is learning alot about foods and what they mean to your bodily function, and sharing with readers/bloggers. I love her for it, personally.
Take a couple moments, there are great lunch ideas on her site, here:

Please take the time to learn about what you feed your children....not just you PPM, but all your great readers here too. It is so important! You can make a couple small changes in eating habits that will affect your child's life (and their own eating habits) forever.
For great breakfast ideas try her post here:

I don't know Jo-Lynne personally, but I love the commitment she has made to her family for their health and well-being.
She has GREAT RECIPES available on her posts, too.
PPM, I need to try to make more things for my own family that are healthy (and hopefully convenient). Share with me if you try a recipe and let me know how it goes. Good luck! I look forward to hearing about your experiences with food and school.....
