A New Way of Thinking- How I Will Be Announcing Winners from This Point Forward

1:42 PM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

I have been thinking lately about how I announce the winners of all the giveaways on Pretty Pink Momma. I think that creating a separate post for each winner or winners is getting to be a bit too much. It can be pretty time consuming and I would much rather spend that time on creating quality posts and adding more giveaways. Ideally I would like to have about three new giveaways each week.

So, from this day forward, I will posting the winners on the original post for each giveaway. I will still be using the Random Number Generator to choose the winners, and I will still be adding a screenshot of the Generator too. The only difference will be that I will be adding it to the post instead of creating a new post solely for the announcement. The winners will still be listed on my sidebar, as always, for at least two weeks - if not more.

Thanks to all for understanding the need for this change. If you have any comments or suggestions I would love to hear them!

Aloha Friday - The View

12:00 AM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

Aloha Fridays are brought to you by Kailani from An Island Life. Over there in Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So Kailani thought that on Fridays she would take it easy on posting, too. So, for Aloha Friday, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Answer my question and put one of your own up on your blog. Link up and check out other blogs that participate at An Island Life.

What do you think of The View? Do you like the show, why or why not?

I actually like The View. I enjoy watching the ladies discuss all the hot topics and try to insult each other without insulting each other. Its pretty entertaining. I have to admit that there are definitely times that I get bored with what they are talking about or I can't relate to the guest that they have on, but for the most part I really like watching the drama that plays out everyday.

*I am a participant in a Mom Central campaign for ABC Daytime and will receive a tote bag or other The View branded items to facilitate my review.*

Video Thursday - Octomom Goes Head to Head with Ladies at The View

I would love if you want to help spread the word about Video Thursday and participate. Just grab the Video Thursday button on my sidebar and post one of your favorite videos, either personal or one circulating around the web. Don't forget to link up so I can check out your video!

Do you have a great video that you would like me to feature on Video Thursday? I want to see them! Send me an email that includes your name, your video find, your blog and you can be featured on Video Thursday! Don't have blog? That's okay just send me your video if you want to share just because. Videos can be something hilarious you came across on the internet or a personal one that you want to share with the world.

Okay, so you know that I am a The View Brand Embassador so I just have to take this moment to talk about Nadia Suleman, AKA Octomom, being on The View. She was the weirdest interview. The entire interview was completely nuts. They ladies were all talking at the same time and it was difficult to hear what each one was asking. It seemed that none of the ladies liked Octomom but they each grinned and beared it while she was on. You could almost literally see the steam rising from Shari when she was talking to her about infertility issues and how Octomom could afford to get it done, especially after she all ready had six kids. Below is the clip so that just in case you missed the show and are fascinated with the Octomom had to say for herself. I'm warning you, prepare for utter confusion. She seems like a nice lady, but completely unaware of all the retarded things that come out of her mouth.

TCM 31 Days of Oscar Continues - Win an Oscar Party Pack!

10:58 PM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

Turner Classic Movies is a Peabody Award-winning network celebrating 15 years of presenting great films, uncut and commercial-free, from the largest film libraries in the world. Turner Classic Movies is currently hosting their annual 31 Days of Oscar event. We are quickly closing on the month long event that features 360 Academy Award®-nominated and winning movies, all presented uncut and commercial-free. The 31 Days of Oscar is hosted by Robert Osborne, who is also the official biographer of the Academy Awards and the Academy’s red carpet greeter.

This year the movies are lined up in a really fun way. Everyone knows about Kevin Bacon and Six Degrees of Separation, right? That is how TCM has decided to design the movie line up by linking to the next movie through a shared actor or actress. It started with Only When I Laugh and will be ending with Diner. Take a look at the line up, what movie are you most looking forward to watching?

Did you spot any of your favorites? I know that I am excited to see Dick Tracy coming up next Satuday morning! I don't think I have seen that in at least ten years, maybe more! I am also looking forward to an old favorite, Rebel Without A Cause coming up on March 2. Who doesn't love James Dean?

The Oscars are rapidly approaching, in fact, they will be on ABC March 7th. Its nice to be able to veg out and watch some old favorites to get in the Oscar mood. Seeing that my husband and my son are both named Oscar I can't get away from the Oscars! Sorry, I just couldn't resist making that joke!

Are you excited to watch the Oscars? Do you get together with friends or throw an Oscar house party? Whether you party it up or sit quietly at home with a loved one curled up on the couch to watch, this is for you:

In honor of 31 Days of Oscar, Turner Classic Movies will be giving one lucky Pretty Pink Momma reader a TCM Oscar Party pack – complete with popcorn, candy, a martini shaker, coasters and more!

Customize Your Wardrobe with Custom Made Clothing from eShakti - Review and Giveaway

10:25 PM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

Have you ever wished that you could have clothes custom made just for you? Your body type, your height, etc... I know that I have. I have a few trouble spots when I try on clothes that always bug me. I have large arms and many shirtsleeves don't fit correctly, they are too tight. I also hate my arms and I wish to cover them up versus show them off. Sometimes I will find the perfect shirt, but wish it had longer sleeves. I also have a smaller waist size than my big ol' butt and thighs are so no matter what pair of pants I try on they usually are too big in the waist if they fit correctly on my hips and thighs. Those are just a couple of my annoyances when trying on clothes, ask any woman and she will tell you that she has issues of one form another when trying on clothes. Which is why I was very intrigued when I came across eShakti.

eShakti creates custom clothing for women sizes 0-26W. Their mission is to create clothing that will make any woman look their absolute best regardless of size. eShakti designs their clothing to have amazing drape as well as offering to customize any article of clothing to each customer's liking. They do this by allowing the customer to select sleeve length, neckline style or fabric color. They want to empower their customer with power of choice. eShakti feels that the power of the internet enables women to make the choices tailor made for their bodies. After all, Shakti in Sanskrit means power, combined with "e" they take it to mean the power of the internet.

I was more than thrilled to review an item from eShakti. I had such a hard time selecting which one that I would choose, to be honest, I really wanted to try out more than one. There are different categories to choose from including collections, dresses, tops, pants, coats and accessories. I really struggled with what to choose. The colors and patterns are very fashion forward and I didn't want to select something that I would only wear once or twice. I love so many of the dresses but being a stay at home mom primarily I don't really have need to wear one. Below is a sample of just a few of the dresses that they have available for their Spring Collection. Aren't they so cute?

Finally I settled on getting myself a new winter coat. Like I said earlier, I have large arms and the one I had in the closet had always been tight around my shoulders and arms. The ordering process was easy. I simply selected the item that I wanted and because it was a jacket and I loved it as is I did not need to customize the length or style. I did however make sure to add in my custom measurements. The directions and diagrams for measuring are easy to read and follow - which I loved! What I found the most challenging was needing the help of another person to help me with some of the measurements for accuracy's sake I didn't want to guess.

This is the jacket that I received from eShakti:

Photobucket

Please pay no attention to the fact that I cut my head out of the picture, I had no makeup and my hair was a mess, so to spare you all I left my head out. Speaking of the jacket, the arms fit great! It was roomy and comfortable. I have broad shoulders, so finding a jacket that fits correctly is tough. The sleeve length was perfect too. There were a couple of improvements that I would have made to the jacket however. The tie around the waist is separate from the jacket. Which is fine except when you have to take your jacket off and have nowhere to hang the tie. Also, this coat is clearly made for looks than functionality. There are no pockets at all which I found odd for a jacket of this nature. But that's just my take. Overall I would say that the jacket is a good fit.

eShakti is always adding new pieces to their line of trendy, affordable custom clothing. The jacket that I received is no longer available. Which makes sense seeing that winter is almost over and spring will be here before you know it. Several items that were available when I originally ordered can now be found in the Archive section of the site. There are tons and tons of great clothes at discount prices. Perfect customizing your wardrobe on a budget!

If you have ever read any of my previous posts than you would know that I love to accessorize. eShakti has tons of hair accessories, jewelry, scarves and belts to choose from that pair up nicely with the styles they offer. The accessories available will suit any woman, whether you like to funk it up a bit with flair or if you prefer a more classic look like pearls, the have accessories for all tastes and styles.

My biggest reccommendation if you plan to order clothing from eShakti is to take advantage of the measuring chart and play it safe. Do not just order a size Large and assume that it will fit. After all, the point of eShaki is to create an article of clothing that is designed just for your body, so why not give them your specific measurements? Go check out eShakti and see what they can make for you!

Win It!

The Cast of Jersey Shore and the Octomom on The View This Week! * fist pump*

12:52 AM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

As I mentioned in last Thursday's post I am one of The View's Mom Embassadors. I am going to be talking about and tweeting all the fun things going on at The View this month. Yay!

This week is going to be awesome! The cast of the Jersey Shore is going to be on and I can't wait to see those meatheads get interviewed. The Snookie and JWow are cool but I think the guys are total douchebags. You can bet the ladies at The View will have some great questions for them. I wonder what Barbara will say?

Monday the ladies will exclusively interview Senator Evan Bayth of Indiana regarding his retirement from Congress. This senator is stirring up some interest because he has announced that he will not be running for re-election because he feels that Congress isn't doing its job. I will be tuning in to see what he has to say and how the ladies react. Political topics get so heated on The View.

We all know on Friday that Tiger Woods came out publicly for the first time to talk about his sex addiction. You know that all the ladies are going to have something to say about that. His behavior has sparked many debates with The View ladies, I can't wait to see what they have to say about it.

On Wednesday the infamous Octomom, Nadya Suleman, will be one of the cohost's! I'm not sure whether I should be appalled or interested. The Octomom is annoying but I want to see how she interacts with the other hosts. She will be there while they interview bestselling author Danielle Steele while she is promoting her new book, Big Girl. I am not a huge reader these days but I like hearing about great reads and putting them on my list of books to read. I wonder if Octomom reads Danielle Steele?

On Thursday the theme is all about infertility. Guiliana Rancic, host of E! News, and her husband Bill Rancic, the former Apprentice star, will be sharing their story. I can't wait for this one because I love them both. I watch Guiliana on E! News just about every night, I think that she has such a great personality. I like watching their show on the Style Network and I think that they are so funny to watch. I can't believe their long distance marriage, I could never do it. I would cave and be with my man wherever he is.

On Friday's show, get this, Regis and Joy Philbin will be on serenading the ladies of The View with a song from their new cd, Regis & Joy: Just You, Just Me. I think that this will be the only thing on The View this week that I have absolutely no interest in watching. Then again, it might be great Video Thursday fodder so I think I might have to!

If you plan on watching The View this week let me know and we can tweet about it together. Be sure to put #theviewmoms hashtag in your tweets.

Which guests this week are you most looking forward too?

How many hours on average do you sleep at night?

Right now I am averaging about five. On a good night seven. But even those are broken up between one child waking me up or another. I can't wait for the day when everyone in this house gets a good nights rest!

Tommy Tippee Sippy Cup Review

10:25 PM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

As a mom to three crazy boys age 6 and under we use sippy cups around here like they are going out of style! Emilio needs the sippy cup because he is only 19 months and doesn't know how to properly handle a cup correctly. Benji will be five in a couple of months and he needs a sippy cup because he is constantly leaving his cups everywhere - and I don't want them getting knocked over on the couch or the carpet seeing as his number one drink of choice is chocolate milk. Oscar is 6 and a half and knows how to use a cup without a lid quite well, however, he loves to leave them where Emilio can grab them. I can't tell you how many times that his water has been knocked over on the table or the floor because he can't remember to keep it out of the little one's reach. Thank goodness his favorite drink is water! It doesn't appear that sippy cups will be leaving this household anytime soon.

One of my biggest frustrations with sippy cups is that I have never found one that is truly leak proof. My older boys are fine with the regular old Toss and Go or Munchkin brands but Emilio needs something that is spill proof. The boys need the spill proof because they are always leaving their cups where Emilio can get at it. The closest that I have come are the Avent sippy cups. Which Emilio will use but the boys will not. It seemed that I was out of luck. That is until now.

Recently I started using the Tommee Tippee line of sippy cups, including the explora ® truly spill proof sippy cup for Emilio and the explora ® truly spill proof drink cups for Oscar and Benji. I love these sippy cups! They are the best that I have come across so far. Tommee Tippee is the number one brand of infant feeding products in Great Britain. They are now available in the US, exclusively at BabiesRUs. The complete range of Explora products includes sippy cups, straw cups, water bottles, drinking cups, independent meal sets, weaning bowls, food pots and utensils for children aged 6 months and beyond.

Here is some product info for each type of cup that I received from Tommee Tippee:

Photobucket

What I love about the explora ® truly spill proof sippy :
  • It has a hygienic cap to cover the spout
  • The spout itself is soft flexible
  • The Advance Flo technology made it simple for Emilio to use
  • The grip on the sides are rubberized
  • It is easy to take apart and clean
  • It is BPA free
  • Dishwasher safe
  • It is larger than the average Avent sippy cup
  • It is truly the closest I have come to leak proof. When its left on its side or turned upside down nothing leaks out
  • The price is great! Only $7.99 for a pack of two
There are only a few cons:
  • I liked that the Avent cups had a handle attachment. It was easier for Emilio to grasp.
  • I wish that it was insulated like the larger cups
  • I have found that it is not 100% leak proof. If liquids are in the chamber below the spout and the cup is shaken they will spill out. That being said it is still the best in leak protection that I have yet to find.
  • Emilio liked to play with the hygienic cap. At times he was frustrated that it wouldn't come off. He also kept trying to drink it with the cap on, it was a little confusing for him at first but mainly because he was used to the Avent cups without caps.
What I love about the explora ® truly spill proof drink cups:
  • It is insulated and keeps drinks colder longer
  • It is large in size and holds more liquid than the average cup
  • The sippy hole at the top is similar to an adult coffee cup and easy for the boys to use
  • I can add milk and chocolate together in it and shake it without covering the hole or give it to Benji to shake. Other cups milk sprays everywhere!
  • Easy to clean and assemble/disassemble
  • Both boys loved the design and style of the cup
  • Again, the price is great! Only $7.99 for a pack of two
The only con:
  • Just like the sippy the drink cup is not 100% spill proof either. If any liquid is in the chamber and the cup is shaken it will spill out. It is about 99% though which is pretty dang awesome in my book!

All in all, I have to say the Tommee Tippee cups are amazing! I put them to the test with all three of my boys and I was extremely satisfied with the results. I will be slowly getting rid of all of the Avent cups and trainers that I have and replace them with the Tommee Tippee brand of cups.

There are several other cup options that Tommy Tippee offers that I would like for Emilio to try. I think that the explora ® truly spill proof trainer would be great because of the handles or the explora ® truly spill proof straw cup because he can now drink out of a straw. I have tons of other cups with straws but all of them leak like crazy so I have been holding off on bringing them out for him to try.

If you are looking for new sippy I completely recommend trying out Tommy Tippee for yourself.

*I share my 100% honest thoughts and opinions in all posts. For product reviews I am only compensated in product for the sole purpose of writing an honest review. I was supplied with the Tommee Tippee sippy and drink cups by Tommee Tippee through the Mom Bloggers Club Review Team. Please refer to my disclosure policy or email me if you have any questions.*

Video Thursday - The View - My Favorite Fight

12:00 AM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

Photobucket

I would love if you want to help spread the word about Video Thursday and participate. Just grab the Video Thursday button on my sidebar and post one of your favorite videos, either personal or one circulating around the web. Don't forget to link up so I can check out your video!

Do you have a great video that you would like me to feature on Video Thursday? I want to see them! Send me an email that includes your name, your video find, your blog and you can be featured on Video Thursday! Don't have blog? That's okay just send me your video if you want to share just because. Videos can be something hilarious you came across on the internet or a personal one that you want to share with the world.

I have been chosen to be a Brand Embassador for The View! I love watching The View whenever I get the chance. Thankfully now I have DVR so I can record all the shows that I miss. I have watched The View off and on since its creation. I think that the whole concept of women sharing their different viewpoint is genius. Women are so complicated and getting women together from different walks of life to talk about controversial issues is a recipe for great TV. The show hasn't been the same since Rosie left. There is a little less controversy in my opinion. One of my favorite things about The View is that you never know what is going to happen. They cover hot topics and have awesome guests and guest hosts too. My favorite guest host is Kathy Griffin.

If you love The View too, Mom Central has a sweepstakes going on right now where you can enter to win a trip for you and a friend to see a live taping of The View! I entered so keep your fingers crossed for me, I would love to go to New York again! The sweepstakes is open until February 28th - so go enter before its too late.

For Video Thursday this week, in honor of The View, I have chosen to show one of the most controversial arguments between Rosie and Elisabeth. I get what both of them were trying to say but I think that Elisabeth handled herself better, she just made more sense. She definitely did not want to let the issue go and neither did Rosie. This is The View gold as far as I am concerned. What do you think? Do you have a favorite moment from The View?

*I am a participant in a Mom Central campaign for ABC Daytime and will receive a tote bag or other The View branded items to facilitate my review.*

End Treadmill Boredom with the Surf Shelf!

4:32 PM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

As you may know, I have started to eat healthier and exercise in hopes that I will reach my weight loss goal by this time next year. I have started a new Weight Loss Tips and Product Guide so that I can share any and all weight loss knowledge that I possess with you as well as provide product reviews for any products that I think are helpful weight loss tools.

We all know that exercise is one of the most important keys to maintaining a healthy weight. Increasing your cardio is one of the best ways to burn fat but can be a hard habit to form if you are a couch potato like me. When I'm not lounging in front of the TV you can bet that you will find me in front of my laptap, blogging and checking emails. Keeping up with my blog is really important to me and at times can takeover my day. My favorite way to unwind is to plop my butt on the couch and just immerse myself in my favorite prime time programs. This schedule has taken a toll on my body and even though I want to change its hard to miss out on my TV time. I need that escape from reality. All though its hard to admit, this is one of the main reasons that I have stayed sedentary for so long.

One of the easiest ways to add cardio to into your exercise routine is to start walking on a treadmill. I have a treadmill in my garage but because of the previously mentioned reasons I haven't used it until recently. The biggest problem that I have with my treadmill is the boredom. I can't just walk and do nothing but stare at an unkempt garage. I also have no cable access in my garage so watching my favorite TV shows was out of the question. I tried using my iPod but listening to music doesn't really give my eyes anywhere to focus plus I can't hear the baby monitor or the older boys when I have earphones in. So what's an overweight mom to do?

The answer is the Surf Shelf. This amazing product got my fat butt back on the treadmill for the first time in over a year. I LOVE it! It has ended my treadmill boredom. The Surf Shelf is a shelf specifically designed to hold your lap top securely in place on your treadmill, eliptical or stationary bike. The shelf itself is made of strong polycarbonate, the same stuff used to make bullet proof glass. The built in velcro srtap secures any laptop or portable DVD player. The Surf Shelf is completely transparent so you can still read the machine readout too. More importantly is that the sleek design is created to stay out of your way while you exercise.

Below is a short video that shows you just how easy it is to install the Surf Shelf on your machine.

One thing that worried me the most is the support that the Surf Shelf would provide. I would be so upset if my laptop fell on the floor and got broken. The video below shows how strong the Surf Shelf is and that it can hold the weight of up to 50 lbs!

Needless to say it seemed that the Surf Shelf was tailor made for a gal like me. I was so giddy the day that it came, I was anxious to get it all set up and ready to go. My husband put it together in a matter of minutes. I hopped on the treadmill for the first time in over a year! My laptop was securely attached, and I was reading blogs and checking my email- WHILE EXERCISING! The Surf Shelf is the multi-taskers dream come true!

Then next time I used it decided that I wanted to catch up on TV shows. My biggest problem was that I hadn't figured out ahead of time what I wanted to watch and where I could watch it. So, I wasted some time that I could have spent walking trying to decide what to watch when I was walking. I then realized that I remembered Randy, the Surf Shelf Founder, talking about a website he created called In-Gym.com.

Randy had specifically designed In-Gym.com as an online entertainment guide for Surf Shelf users to have access to their favorite online video feeds from their favorite providers, all from one place. In-Gym.com allows you to select what you want to watch using only your arrow keys so you don't have to slow down your workout by typing in all the individual sites that you want to watch. It currently has seven categories to choose from including: news, sports, entertainment, health & lifestyle, music videos, online TV and teens. Each category has twelve video channels which means that it has 84 video sites total at your fingertips. Below is a very short video tutorial about how In-Gym.com works:

From the moment I saw the Surf Shelf I was immediately on board with this genious idea. My husband however was not. He felt that it was just another one of those gimmicky products that doesn't work or is just plain stupid. Well, since my husband and I have decided to make a lifestyle change, he wanted to start using the treadmill to get in his cardio. So, he tried out the Surf Shelf - and he LOVED it too! He is actually thinking of purchasing a recumbent bike and an additional Surf Shelf so that we can do cardio at the same time. If my husband became a loyal fan I know that you will too. We are both thoroughly impressed by the Surf Shelf.

Here are pictures of my husband and I using our Surf Shelf during our morning workouts

If you are looking for a way to increase the longevity of your cardio workouts and stimulate your mind at the same time I would most definitely recommend purchasing the Surf Shelf. The Surf Shelf is available for purchase for $39.95. Randy is committed to customer satisfaction and he offers a money back guarantee if you are not satisfied with the product in any way. So, what do you have to lose but the extra lbs?

Celebrate the General Mills Big G Cereal Retro Box Promotion! Retro Prize Pack, Target Gift Card and Atari Game Console Giveaway!

11:59 PM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

I think that we all remember as a kid seeing the creative commercials for our favorite cereals and if we were lucky, our parents would by them. I still feel deprived as a child because I could never get my mom to get me Cookie Crisp. I loved those commercials! What could beat a bowl of cookies for breakfast?

I think that we all begged our parents at one time or another to purchase cereal merely to get a chance at what treasure lied deep within the box. I remember that after pleading with my parents for the cereal that was offering the coolest toy, the toy that I simply had to have, they would finally give in to my demands and bring it home for my brother and I to enjoy. Everyday we feverishly ate bowl after bowl trying to get to the prize at the bottom of box. Only if my mom wasn't looking would we dare to stick our hands in the box and sift through the cereal hoping to get our hands on that sought after toy. I remember on more than one occasion fighting with my older brother over the toy in the box. It happened so often in fact that my mom had to put a rule in place that we were not to dig our hands through and find the prize, it had to be poured into our cereal bowl. The bowl that it landed in would be the one who got the prize. My brother is five years older than me so its not hard to imagine how he almost always ended up with the prize.

Cereal is one of those staples that no kid can live without - mine included. My oldest son loves to try out new cereals all the time. Some of his favorites include the The Big G Cereals, like Trix, Cheerios and Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Honey Nut Cheerios and Lucky Charms were two of my favorites growing up. I mean who could resist that adorable bee and that tricky little leprechaun?

General Mills has decided to bring back the original retro boxes for the five Big G Cereals: Honey Nut Cheerios, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Lucky Charms, Cheerios and Trix. Target will be the only store where you will be able find these special limited edition boxes, from February 14th - March 7th. The retro boxes will certainly flash you back to yesteryear when you pass by as you walk down the cereal aisle. I think that its hard for all of us not to get a little nostalgic as we walk the cereal aisle with our kids - now we have the chance share with them our favorite cereal box memories and the things that looked cool to us when we were kids.

Check out the retro boxes as compared to what we see on shelves today!

The retro Lucky Charms and Cheerios boxes are both circa 1965. The sixties are known for as a time of change for education, values and lifestyle due to the emerging generation.

The Cinnamon Toast box came out in 1985. I was a child of the eighties, in 1985 I was five years old and in kindergarten. I had many things to look forward to like the the introduction of Mario Brothers, my all time favorite game, and my first Cabbage Patch Kid and then the aforementioned Garbage Pail Kid trading cards. Of course I thought that the Delorian was the coolest car ever!

This commercial from 1985 is meant to appeal to the mom - check out her perm and huge glasses! I think I had a few friends with moms that looked like that.

This retro box cover is from 1989, who could resist that cute little bee? And that song, "Its a honey of an O with Honey Nut Cheerios!"
