Win Your Very Own Easy Bake Oven from Hasbro and Celebrate the Easy Bake 2009 "Baker of the Year"

I don't think I can even think of a single girl in my lifetime that I have ever known that did not want or have the Easy Bake Oven by Hasbro. I was one of the unfortunate little girls that never got to have one of my very own. Even worse, none of my friends had one either so I never even got the pleasure of trying one out! Yes, its true, I was robbed of one of the best toy experiences known to little girls everywhere. The funny thing is that even though I am a grown woman it still burns me to this day that I didn't have an Easy Bake Oven. I think that this probably rings true with so many others like myself.

No matter what woman you mention it to we all have the same bitterness towards our parents to this day that we did not get our beloved Easy Bake Oven. Those of us who never got an Easy Bake Oven of our own would most certainly purchase one for our daughters. Unless of course you are like me, and you are only blessed with sons. Obviously my sons would love the Easy Bake Oven too, but trying to convince my husband to buy them one is an entirely different story! He freaked out at the hunter green and tan pretend kitchen they got for Christmas last year from my parents. It has sat in the garage so they have limited play time with it - just to ensure that they won't have too much time to spend playing with it. I guess that I just will have to face the facts that they will never get the chance to become the Easy Bake Oven "Baker of the Year".

On April 7, 2009, Hasbro Inc., after beginning the search last summer, announced the seven finalists for the Easy Bake Oven 2009 "Baker of the Year" contest. These talented child bakers are from all around the country and will be flown to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa in WALT DISNEY WORLD® Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, where they will compete for the title of EASY-BAKE 2009 "Baker of the Year" on May 7, 2009. Contestants entered their favorite original recipes using one or more EASY-BAKE mixes. Entries were submitted online at http://www.easybake.com/ or via mail with a photo featuring their creation, themselves, and their "sous chef." All EASY-BAKE 2009 “Baker of the Year” contest entries were judged based on creative use of ingredients, presentation, ease of preparation, and taste. Each finalist will be assisted in the kitchen throughout the competition by their baking “sous chef" - a parent, grandparent, aunt, or uncle.

During the EASY-BAKE 2009 “Baker of the Year” finals, contestants will once again be judged on creative use of ingredients, presentation, ease of preparation, and taste. The grand prize winning pair in the EASY-BAKE 2009 "Baker of the Year" contest will receive a culinary-inspired trip for four to San Francisco, CA, where the group will visit local food-related sites and attractions. The six runners-up will each receive a $500 VISA gift card and a one-year supply of EASY-BAKE Brand mixes. All finalists will have their recipe and a photo of their creation appear on the EASY-BAKE website.

I am so pleased to announce that one of the seven finalists is 10 year old MaCall Prengel, from my hometown, Olympia, WA! How cool is that! She and her "sous chef" (mom Danelle), came up with the "S'mores Snacks/Chocolaty Peanut Butter," two exceptional treats rolled into one. The combination of sticky marshmallow, creamy chocolate and gooey peanut butter will have judges asking for "s'more." A huge s'more lover myself, I think that this recipe is GENIUS! Below is a picture of MaCall and her mom Danelle, showing off their Easy Bake Oven skills. You can also read the press release and see the names and pictures of all finalists with their yummy recipes.

Did you know that the Easy Bake Oven was first introduced in 1963? In its first year half a million kids talked their parents into getting them their very own Easy Bake Oven, the retail price then was $15.95. It took only five years for the Easy Bake Oven to become a household name. Over the last 40 years there have been 11 models and several color changes to reflect the style and era of each oven in their day. Its no wonder every woman I talk to had one or wanted one considering I was born in 1979, 16 years after its creation.

And just for those of you that are alien, and from another planet, and have no idea what an Easy Bake Oven is here is a current picture and all the info about it.
