Aloha Friday - Tax Time!

Aloha Fridays are brought to you by Kailani from An Island Life. Over there in Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So Kailani thought that on Fridays she would take it easy on posting, too. So, for Aloha Friday, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Answer my question and put one of your own up on your blog. Link up and check out other blogs that participate at An Island Life.

Who does the taxes in your house, and if you are getting a refund are you planning on making any special purchases?

It's my job in our house to prepare all of the taxes. I have an accounting background so I have always had sort of a knack for it. It seems though that every year gets tougher and tougher. I remember the good old days of the 1040EZ when taxes were done in ten minutes. Now it seems like it takes forever. I haven't done them yet, I'm planning that for next week. Usually we get a refund so this year I have promised Oscar a PS3. I am planning on getting myself a battery for my laptop. All the rest will pretty much go to paying off bills. Yay.

since we moved here in Germany, the tax system is different here than back in the States! Generally the taxes are drawn automatically from your paycheck every month depending on what level are you at with the insurance and how much money do you make. But at the end of the year, again depending on the level of taxes you pay, you can deduct stuff like car fuel, or specific things you bought for the work like books, software's and such.. it's different! SO we both do our final taxes with deductions and such at the end of the year!
Happy Friday and here's my Aloha!

I do our taxes. We usually put our refund straight into our savings account but we are getting the first-time homebuyers credit this year so we'll be using that money for home improvement projects.

We hire an accountant. With the money we pay off credit cards and put the rest toward loans.

I did my own for the first time last year and it was dumb. I used Turbo Tax but had to pay because of my 1099. So this year, I am going back to getting them done by someone. The price is about the same AND I don't waste my time!

No matter what we do... this year we donated a car to the local humane society. I am hoping the donation~ and maybe the karma~ will be in our favor. I would be happy just having the slate clean.

My husband does the taxes. Yes, I set women's lib back several decades. We're getting a refund, and we get to use it to pay...property tax. Joy!

I do - and we're paying off a credit card with our return. Nothing exciting!
The CPA does ours. It's all kinds of complicated.

We have a tax guy! LOL

Oh..and my son has a PS3. It's really cool! If you have WiFi it's even better!

Oh, and w/ the refund, we are planning on sending our two older kids to Hawaii for a couple of weeks. My sister lives there.
Just loved this post... coming from SITS. Random, but are you going to Bloggy Boot Camp in Baltimore?
I swear, there are so many amazing Friday meme's I am never going to be able to get to them all! This one is new to me...

My dad does our taxes... he's a CPA, so he gets us every single penny we deserve! This year, we've already (gulp) spent our refund (even though we are still about 2 months away from receiving the check) on our 5-year anniversary trip. Eeeek!

CPA does our taxes and the husband keeps all the financial records in order...gotta love him. We get a return every year and this year it is going into savings...not spending a penny. This horrid economy has hit us hard.

We use an accountant because of the kids and their college expenses and whatnot. It gets kinda complicated. We're getting a hefty refund but it'll go to the last remaining joint debt and then I'll use the rest of it to get this house ready to sell. Can't wait for this stage to be over and to move on with my life!
