This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Lunchables. All opinions are 100% mine.
As if Lunchables themselves weren't awesome enough, blessing us all with perfectly proportioned lunches for our families, they are on a mission to inspire our kids through educational field trips.
The Lunchables Team has kicked off a new initiative and they call it Project Potential. Their first effort of Project Potential is call Field Trips for All. With economic struggles plaguing families across the nation it has been harder and harder for schools to receive the fundraising cash that they need to pay for educational field trips for classrooms.
I learned that it’s estimated, according to a 2009 report from The American Association of School Administrators, that over the course of the current school year, the number of school districts eliminating field trips will increase by 56 percent. That comes out to be more than 30,000 schools.
My sons' elementary school has seen this first hand. Over the last few years they have noticed a considerable decrease in fundraising dollars. They have had to make cuts here and there as well simply because they can't afford to continue programs that aren't in the budget. It seems that every month my sons' are coming home with new fundraisers for their school. It is an important aspect for all schools that they earn money from putting on fundraisers to support their programs. Its simple math - no money = no extras.
Lunchables wants to help change this by inspiring anyone over the age of 6 to nominate a deserving classroom to receive an enriching hands on field trip from Lunchables. After all of the nominations are in 50 classrooms will be selected to go on an inspiring educational experience.
A great example of one of these field trips is this Alien Field Trip taken by some Los Angeles fifth graders as shown in the video below.
Nominate a Classroom!
So whether its your child's, your friend's child or even someone that you just know in the blogosphere, if you know of a deserving classroom please nominate them. Visit the Lunchables Project Potential Field Trips For All site and enter your submission. Tell me who you would like to see nominated! I would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions for nominations in the comments section of the post. If you have a blog, facebook or twitter account please spread the word about this wonderful program for our nation's youth.
I personally nominated my oldest son's class. He is fortunate enough to be able to go on a field trip to the zoo at the end of the month but that will be the only field trip that he has gone on this year. It seems like the kids at his school only go on a field trip at the end of the year. Just one field trip per year doesn't seem like enough. I remember going on at least two or three every single year of elementary school. I remember looking forward to those days, whether it was visiting a park to learn about trees and nature or the beach to learn about marine life - those field trips stuck with me. Even to this day I remember them. I want my children to feel that way about their field trips. Those educational journeys can have a lasting impact and I want my children to experience that just as I did.
