I had an awesome Mother's Day. I slept in, lounged around all day and only had to help prepare one meal. I caught up on a ton of shows that I had in the DVR and got to watch them uninterrupted - for the most part!
The one thing that I really wanted that I didn't get was a clean house. I was hoping that my husband would honor my request and clean the house but instead I got this:
Don't get me wrong, its a beautiful necklace. Oscar hasn't bought me jewelry in a really long time. But that was at my request. I really don't need a diamond necklace, their nice to have and all but I don't need another one. I also don't need the extra expense of paying for one.
I also found it interesting that when asked what I wanted for Mother's Day I specifically stated that I didn't need any gifts, just help cleaning the house. What did I get? A diamond necklace. Is it that hard to clean the house? So much so that you would rather go out and spend a ton of money on jewelry instead of rolling up your sleeves and putting in some hard labor to clean the pig sty that we call a house. I mean I know its really gotten bad lately, I've tried to keep up but really? The prospect of buying jewelry sounded better than cleaning?
And he wonders why I want to hire someone to help me keep the house clean! He refuses to let me pay someone to do the laundry or clean the bathrooms because he feels that this is something that we should be able to accomplish on our own. Yet when given the opportunity to help out in this respect, he opts to buy a necklace.
Okay, soooooo if your going to spend some money on me, why not pay for the cleaning service? With what he spent on that necklace I could have had the house cleaned from top to bottom! Maybe next year I should be more specific and just ask for the cleaning service instead. I think this little necklace gift, all though well meaning, has just given me the ammo I need to get me a gift certificate to a housekeeping service. Don't you think?
Oh, and if you are like me and would love nothing more than a clean house, you can check out my giveaway for a $50 Merry Maids Gift Certificate here.
Well I hope that all of my wonderful friends had a wonderful Mother's Day and got everything that you heart desired and more. If not, there's always next year!
