The PureZone Review - Our Experience

By the time the PureZone arrived both my husband and I were in desperate need.  I was willing to try anything that would make me wake up clear headed in the morning.  The first thing that I noticed about the PureZone was the really smart way it was packaged.  It resembled a suitcase that once opened up to reveal the PureZone in each half of the package.  Thankfully I am married to a very considerate man who let me try it first, even though his symptoms were probably worse than mine.  So he assembled it to fit on my side of the bed first.  My husband said that the assembly instructions were easy to follow and it was set up in no time at all, his only criticism is that there were a lot of pieces which could confuse some.  He thought that it could be a bit more streamlined to prevent confusion - but like I said, he personally didn't have any problems.  For set up you have the option of hanging it off the side of the bed rails or it can stand alone on floor next to the bed.  In our case we have a large canopy bed so it made sense to have it hang from the side rail.  Here is what it looks like on my bed:

My favorite thing about the PureZone is the fact that I can use my own pillow!  That is hugely important to me because I am extremely picky about my pillows.  The PureZone has a specially made pillow case that fits over your own pillow and attaches to the filtration system.  Also the system itself is not big and bulky.  I really like that it does not take up very much space. 

The first night that I used the PureZone for a full eight hours of rest I couldn't believe how amazing I felt in the morning when I woke up.  It was literally a night and day experience in comparison to sleeping without it.  Even crazier was that my husband - who only slept beside me - felt awesome too!  We both couldn't believe that the purifying effects extended into his side of the bed as well.  We were very excited about this product and how it could help us breathe easier.

The PureZone has adjustable cooling and warming levels built right in.  I love the cooling effects because I hate a hot pillow.  However if its a chilly night I can definitely see how it could be curse rather than a blessing.  In my home because we have small children the heat is always on so that would never be a problem for me.  If you find that you do want to change the setting to warm instead of cool, it actually makes the air flowing through the pillow feel more like room temperature.  Most nights I prefer the cool setting but sometimes I switch it to the second setting and warm it up just a bit, both work fine for me.  I also really like that it has a remote control that magnetically attaches to the side of the machine.  Its very convenient if you want to change settings while you are lying down.  Plus the buttons on the remote light up so its easy to see in the dark. 

One of the biggest concerns that people may have about a system like this is the noise level.  To me, the light fan noise was a white noise that was comfortable and easy to fall asleep to.  My husband and I both thought that the noise was soothing and not annoying in any way. 

In fact, the PureZone worked so well for us that I decided to share it with my mom and get her opinion on it as well.  My mom has had a lot of trouble sleeping in her house because there is not a good ventilation system in place.  After only using it for two night she also agreed that it worked really well and she felt so much better when she woke up each morning.  My parents thought that the fan noise was a little loud for their tastes but it was definitely something they could live in order to have a healthier sleeping environment.  They are really considering purchasing one not only for themselves but for my grandmother too.  My grandmother sleeps with an air purifier in addition to living in a home made of steel.  She is very allergic to the chemicals that are used in insulation, so much so, that she can't even stay in a hospital in the most purified room they have.  This is why my mom feels that it would really be a great addition to my grandma's sleep system that she currently has in place.

For me, the PureZone only has a couple of things that I would like to see changed.  The first is the pillow case needs to be washed in cold water.  I like to wash all of my bedding in hot water to get rid of any and all sweat or body soil.  It's annoying to me to do a separate wash just for the pillow case.  I will admit that its a nominal price to pay for the way it makes me feel when I wake up in the morning.

The only thing about they system that bothers me is the face plate on the side.  It snaps on and off with ease, but its too easy.  This would only be a problem for those with small children.  My two year old loves to take it off when I am not paying attention and remove the circular screen.  He took it a bit too far one day and decided to rip it in half.  It still works, I just have to line up both pieces and then place the cover back on.  So my biggest wish is that it was a bit more childproof because I don't see this battle ending with my two year old anytime soon.
