This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Carmex®. All opinions are 100% mine.
Every winter as soon as it turns colder people everywhere suffer from chapped lips and chapped hands.
Speaking from personal experience I know that when my lips or my husband’s lips are at their worst we have turned to Carmex lip balms to heal them quickly. Back in my younger days before I was a SAHM I used to use Carmex daily underneath my lipstick to ensure a sleek application. There is something about Carmex that just soaks into the skin and heals or protects from chapping. So I find that its only natural, and about time, that Carmex came out with a skin care line.
As a mom of small children I wash my hands about a million times a day – on average. My hands get so dry and cracked but this year is the worst that it has ever been. So bad that I had to stop wearing my wedding rings for awhile because they were getting dry and cracked underneath my rings and the only way to heal it was to remove my rings. Needless to say the samples of the Carmex Skin Care line showed up just in the nick of time. I was sent the Carmex® Healing Lotion and Carmex® Healing Cream.

Before I talk about my experience with the product I would like to talk about the packaging. The lotion and the cream come in a stand up tube. I prefer this way of dispensing over the pump because over time the pump can get that thick crusty lotion cap on it, plus I always feel ripped off that I can never get the last bit out of the bottom of the bottle.
The first thing I noticed about the products is the smell. They have that same Carmex smell that we are familiar with. It’s a strong odor that takes time to dissipate. If you are not a fan of the smell of Carmex than I don’t think that this would be the lotion for you. The smell doesn’t bother me but I can’t say that I don’t notice it. Honestly my first thought was that men may prefer Carmex as manly alternative to dry skin care. I know that some men don’t like soft floral scents because they think its too girly. The Carmex scent is a unisex scent that could be worn by man or woman.
I tried the Carmex Healing Cream first because my hands were in desperate need of healing and this was not a maintenance project by any means. The cream has 9 healing ingredients within it. I was surprised at how quickly the lotion soaked into my dry skin. It took a few applications but after a few days my hands were healing and looking healthier than they had in a couple of months. Then I started using the Carmex Healing Lotion to upkeep the protection of my skin.
Both the cream and the lotion soak in quickly and absorb. The package claims that it doesn’t leave your hands feeling greasy but I beg to differ. My hands were greasy for bit after using both. On the outside of my hands it wasn’t so bad but my palms were really greasy. It didn’t really pose a problem for me but I thought that I would mention it seeing as it might for some. Putting it on your elbows or other non essential body parts I can’t imagine that it would be a problem but your hands you usually try to keep as non greasy as possible. I will say that it wasn’t as greasy as some other traditional lotions can leave your hands feeling, so that is a positive.
Overall I think that both products work well to heal dry skin and protect it from becoming dry. I will continue to use my samples through the winter. If you are interested in trying out the Carmex Skin Care line for yourself you can find it at your local Walgreens stores, Walgreens.com and drugstore.com. Each product retails for $5.99.
