Naturally Beautiful Jewelry - Go Green and Eco Chic With Jewelry From the Leakey Collection

It's not a secret that I love to wear chic jewelery, but eco chic jewelery, that's even better!  What is eco chic you ask?  Eco chic is jewelery or other products that are green, in other words, made from all natural materials.  I am so glad that I was introduced to The Leakey Collection and able to review a set from their collection.

Discover the Natural Elegance of The Leakey Collection

Based in The Rift Valley Kenya, East Africa, The Leakey Collection founders Katy and Philip Leakey, combine their talents in interior design and the arts with their love of nature to develop stunning handcrafted products for an international market.
Using natural elements such as fallen wood, grass and porcelain, these renowned designers create unique products while protecting the environment and providing economic opportunity to the local communities. Zulugrass and Zuluwood beads, bracelets and necklaces are sold in stores worldwide. The entire collection is now available on LeakeyLife.com, their online retail site.

From high fashion jewelry to home interior design accessories, The Leakey Collection's natural elegance distinguishes this high end product line as one of the world's premier offerings.
The Leakey Collection offers employment opportunities to over 1200 Kenyans. They made their business fit the Maasai lifestyle rather than having the Maasai change for the business.

All materials used by the The Leakey Collection are environmentally sustainable. Materials include Zulugrass beads, fallen Acacia wood and fallen marula nut oil.  Each piece of Zulugrass is designed by Katy and Phillip Leakey and assembled by the Maasai women of Kenya.  The tall grass used to make Zulugrass beads is harvested and cut, blade by blade, by hand.

The Review

I was sent a Multi-strand Zulugrass Necklace and matching bracelet for review.  I absolutely love the set!  It can be worn casual or dressy clothes.  I have worn the set to work, nights out and even just out shopping.  There are sixteen strands of Zulugrass beads beautifully strung and accompanied with Czech glass beads to give it that extra little bit of sparkle.  The color I received was Olive, shown above, and I think that it is gorgeous.  It goes great with everything - plus it matches my eyes!  What is really cool about this necklace in particular is that you can wear it long or you can choose to wear it short as a choker, depending upon your style or preference.  I usually prefer the choker, but that's just because most of my favorite necklaces are chokers.  Here is a picture of me sporting this super eco chic necklace and bracelet:

I have really enjoyed wearing this set for the last month.  I think that if you have a fashionista on your gift list this year, or better yet an eco chic fashionista, she would definitely appreciate a gift from The Leakey Collection.

Buy It!

The Multi-Strand Necklace is available for $39.95 and the Multi-Strand Bracelet for $29.95.  There are several different colors to choose from and other styles of necklaces and bracelets as well. There are also earrings, belts, sunglasses holders and more to add to your eco chic collection.

You can purchase these and other great pieces of Zulugrass jewelery at www.theleakeycollection.com as well as at several retail locations throughout the US and abroad.  To find those locations simply plug your zip code into the store locator and a list of stores near you will pop up.  I live in an area where there isn't a vast selection of shopping and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the nearest store to my home was only 12 miles away.  There were several more stores also on that list but a bit further out.  Either way I was very impressed at just how many locations that The Leakey Collection can be found in.

I like that this jewelry is all-natural and hand-made, and that it also helps the people in Kenya to earn their living. Thanks for the review.
