I have recently been introduced to eBeanstock, a company focused on educational toys and products that are matched to the developmental stages of children rather than specifically just by age. This is such a great site with wonderful information for parents about the different develpomental stages that your children will go through. eBeanstalk is a place where you can find expert selected newborn and baby toys, toddler toys and toys for a preschooler, which is excellent for gift giving. An awesome gift idea is that some of their learning toys are packaged into a GIFT SERIES, where every three months a new gift arrives that is perfectly suited the appropriate stage of a child’s development.
They have two teams that help decide the best toys to offer in their selection. The first is a team of child experts including a Child Psychologist, Speech Pathologist, Child Physical Therapist, Pediatric Occupational Therapist and a Special Educator. You can find out the FAQs about each of these specialists by clicking on their Expert Advice tab. The second team is a group of over 700 moms that they lovingly refer to as the "mother board". The MotherBoard acts as their nationwide 'governing body' — playing with the toys, rating each and every toy on the site, and providing valuable feedback.
eBeanstock has looked at over 10,000 toys from well known manufacturers around the world and narrowed it down to 600 of the best toys that are carefully selected and tested before being given the eBeanstock seal of approval.
eBeanstock's Child Specialists have identified the stages of development children grow through. They matched 7 core skills (called Head-to-Toe) - Imagination, Education, Language, Dexterity, Locomotion, Emotion and Social – with the stages of a child’s development to provide a simple, focused explanation of each stage. They then carefully matched each learning toy with the appropriate stage of development. No more “for a child 2 and up”. Their toys are matched to 3 month incremental stages.
As a mother of children with developmental delays, I think that this company is wonderful. They can cater specifically to the delay of the child in the toy selection process. All three of my children have developmental delays. Each of them plays with toys very differently than the others. At eBeanstock I can visit the Developmental Delays section and choose toys based on the stage of development that I am looking to improve. A feature that I think is awesome is the ability to contact an expert and receive expert advice about which toys to choose based on the delays. This is such a great reference tool for parents and those who wish to purchase a gift for a child with a delay.
Another excellent reason to visit eBeanstock is for all of the great articles and wealth of information that you can read in their Experts Advice section. The Experts, using their collective knowledge and experience, create graduated play ideas for each toy, author the eBeanstalk instruction cards (sent with each toy purchased), answer great FAQs, and much, much more.
My overall impression of eBeanstock and their site is a big thumbs up. eBeanstock is a great place to research and purchase educational and learning toys for the little ones in your life.
