Aloha Friday - Favorite Childhood Memory

Aloha Fridays are brought to you by Kailani from An Island Life. Over there in Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So Kailani thought that on Fridays she would take it easy on posting, too. So, for Aloha Friday, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Answer my question and put one of your own up on your blog. Link up and check out other blogs that participate at An Island Life.

What is your favorite childhood memory?

My favorite childhood memory is playing with my grandpa. He was a ton of fun to be around and he made the time to make me feel special, when no one else did. He took me swimming, hiking and to all the local playgrounds. I remember one summer there was a black lab that was so sweet, she was just roaming around the neighborhood all by herself. He told me to give her a name, which I glady did, I called her Josephine. We hopped in the car and took Josephine to the park and played with her all day. At the end of the day we came back to his house and then Josephine wandered off. I was so sad to see her go but she had to. My grandma was so mad that my grandpa let me play with a strange dog all day - name it, and then try to keep it. She insisted that the dog had an owner and it was wrong of us to take her to the park and play. I remember my grandpa fighting back saying that we didn't do anything wrong but have a good time. I loved playing with her, but I did have a family dog at home so I knew that Josephine must have had a family that loved her like I loved my dog. It was a fun adventure that day though at my grandparents house!

Aww! That was a sweet story about your grandpa. I bet he felt so bad that you couldn't keep Josephine!!

One of my favorite childhood memories was when my dad would take us for a drive to San Francisco. I love those weekends!

My favorite memories are from when my maternal grandmother was living with us. She was so gentle, soft-spoken and kind. She made everyone feel so peaceful, and I loved watching her read her Bible...I remember her bookmark was shaped like a rose.

Your grandfather sounded like the type of person who loved life!

My favorite childhood memories are going to Disney World with my family. It was so magical seeing my parents carefree and acting like children.

Aww that was so sweet. I too loved spending time with my Grandpa. He was a joker he'd do all kinds of jokes like pulling his finger and making it come off, and pulling his teeth out or while my mom was folding laundry he put my under wear on his head. LOL that made me laugh the loudest. Those were the days

Because I lost my grandma when I was so young (3), I think that my favorite memory (and probably my only one of her) is spending time with her and my grandpa in the their kitchen. It's a foggy memory, but I still cherish it.

I played in the rain all year round and for some strange reason I was always as healthy as can be while the kids whose mom's did forbid them to play in the rain were constantly sick. I still occasionally 'take a walk' (aka play) in the rain but when I was a kid I did it every chance I got.

What a special memory! Sounds like a wonderful man. One of my favorite memories as a child was when I used to get to play with my cousins during holidays. They were close in age and we had a blast.

Grandparents are so great! I didn't have any near me when I was growing up. My kids only have my mom still living but they sure do love her!
