Aloha Friday - Mother's Day Gifts vs. Gestures

Aloha Fridays are brought to you by Kailani from An Island Life. Over there in Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So Kailani thought that on Fridays she would take it easy on posting, too. So, for Aloha Friday, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Answer my question and put one of your own up on your blog. Link up and check out other blogs that participate at An Island Life.

If you could choose a Mother's Day gift that someone purchased for you or something that was meant to be thoughtful, like cleaning or doing something for you which would you prefer?

I have tons of crap. And I will be the first to admit I love getting gifts. However, it means way more to me when someone does something for me. This year I just asked for help cleaning the house. I don't want gifts, just a clean house. A clean house makes me happy, especially if I'm not the one cleaning it!

I'm not a mother yet, so for now I prefer thoughtful purchased gifts.

I love the gift of service!

I think I would prefer to have someone else do the daily chores so that I could have a day of relaxation. However I would also love a bouquet of fresh cut flowers, nothing fancy.

Definitely the gestures. It would be nice to have a carefree day with rest rather than more items that I really do not need.

I just want the gift of their time. My sons are grown and don't live with us any longer so just spending time with them is much better than anything they could buy for me.
I like store gifts of course, but realistically, I would just like someone to pick up the slack.

Definitely the gestures - help cleaning up the house (I'm like you - I love a clean house, especially if I'm not the one cleaning it!), someone else taking care of the meals for the day, a day of relaxation. And something hand-made from the Princess Nagger is always a plus! ;)

I really enjoy time with my family. But it someone ask me for a different gift I could say clean my windows (I don't like that work).

Happy Friday and enjoy the weekend.

Happy Mother's Day

Gestures would probably make better memories.

Have a great Friday!

Since the kids have been old enough the last few years I just love the handmade gifts from them!

Gestures, absolutely!

Let me sleep in, not have to cook, clean up the house, and take care of bedtime for me. Best gift ever.

Oh let them clean for me! Yes, that would be fab. When they were younger it was the things they made. As for bought things- I love that they cared enough but I am pretty good at getting what I want all year long. ;)

I'm horrible but I definitely choose the bought for me LOL I have family that spoils me with thoughtful things they do and I hardly ever get gifts :)

I think I'd prefer the thoughtful gesture, unless it was a thoughtful present of something I wanted or needed?

I think I'd rather the gesture, but... can I have both? :P

I love presents...but gestures are great too!

I would take help any day. I don't really have much need for expensive gifts... with small children they are likely to be broken or lost. But, I never have enough time to do all my chores.
I prefer something helpful. Gestures mean lots to me. =D
