Nutrisystem Not Only Helps Teach You About Food but Exercise Too!

One thing that I have been slacking on this past couple of weeks is exercise. I realize that physical activity is a key element in weight loss but I never seem to find the time in my day. I have gotten increasingly more busy with all of the catch up I am doing from the week of handling my identity theft problems. Now that everything on that front seems to be calming down I am ready to get back to business and part of that is finding the time to insert exercise into my daily routine.

Knowing that exercise is important and knowing where to start are two totally different things. I have always considered myself, even as obese as I am, to be knowledgeable when it comes to creating an exercise routine. I used to be very active in my younger days and I have purchased several personal trainer sessions over the last ten years.

But what I have realized is that I really don't know how to work exercise into my daily routine, with the kids, the housework and my blog responsibilities. If I had the house to myself for a few hours every day this wouldn't be so problematic. I have found my greatest challenge is getting uninterrupted exercise. Every time I turn around one of my kids needs something from me, which sucks when you are trying to keep your heart rate up and you have to stop.

The one thing that I have found so far that I can do with my kids is play Just Dance on the Wii. I get a major aerobic workout even if I only play for fifteen to twenty minutes. I am planning on expanding my Wii activity but I haven't found any other games yet that I like to play that give me as much of a work out as Just Dance. Needless to say that I am super excited for the next edition of Just Dance to be released in the fall. I can't wait for some new songs to jam to.

Aerobic exercise is not enough though, strength training is equally important. This is what I need to work on infusing into my weekly routine. Being a member of Nutrisystem online I have access to a ton of tools that can help me with achieving not only my food goals but my exercise goals as well.

I really like that it has a plan laid out for me. Just be clicking on my program goals I can see that I need 25 minutes of aerobic exercise three days a week and 20 minutes of strength training two days a week. Since I need the most help with learning strength exercises right now I clicked on the Strength Program.

I chose the intermediate program to start with. Even though I am overweight, when it comes to strength training I know my body, and looking at the beginner program it just seemed too easy for me so I wanted to go with the intermediate program to start with. I really like that it breaks the exercises down for you. Its very easy to follow. Plus it tells you the equipment that you will need, which in this case is only hand held dumbbells and a kitchen chair.

Notice the exercises highlighted in blue? If you are not sure how to properly do it, or need a refresher course, like me, just click on the exercise and a guide will pop up. For example, when I click on Biceps Curl, this pops up:

It clearly and briefly explains just how to do the exercise. It even gives you the option to print it if you would like to make yourself a book or a chart of exercises. Which I think is a fantastic idea! The only thing that would make this a bit more helpful than it all ready is, is if it had pictures to go with the exercises as well. I am a visual learner myself so what I can see in a picture really helps me see what I can't understand with just words alone.

If you would like to see the training programs and exercises that are listed on Nutrisystem you can become a member by going to http://www.nutrisystem.com/prettypink. Membership is on the site is free. I really recommend taking advantage of everything that the site has to offer. What have you got to lose?

So, my goal this week is to implement strength training into my weekly routine. I have plans with my hubby for cardio three times this week plus I plan to do some Just Dance with my kids during the day. I am hoping to lose 2-3 pounds this week. I know that its a big goal but if I stick to my goals I really think that I can pull it off.

I need to continue to train this fall when the kids get on the bus but I will be running 2 on 1 off...those off days you should have Emilio in the stroller at the bus stop so we take off. If we don't do it then, we will gab and get no where! Are ya in?
