Nutrisystem - A Typical Breakfast

I thought that this week I would share what a typical breakfast for me might look like. Today it was a Nutrisystem Blueberry Muffin, one and half cups of strawberries and a small glass of milk. Excuse the bite! I was really hungry and dug right in before I remembered that I wanted to take a picture of my food before I mowed it down. I have found that this combination of entree, fruit serving and dairy serving works really well for in the mornings. Its fast, easy and the combination is filling. I am not hungry until lunch - ever.

For me, the thing I was most curious about when starting Nutrisystem was the food. Would I like it? Or would it be something that I couldn't dare eat? I'm a pretty picky eater too so it doesn't take much to scare me. I will be the first to admit that I LOVE the Nutrisystem breakfast and lunches. They are quick, easy and delicious. I am the first to admit that I do not love all of the food choices. To be perfectly honest I don't think anyone could love all the food options. I learned a lot about my likes and dislikes my first month on the program as well as a little about myself.

I just received my second order of food today. This order I am really, really excited about! Why? Because this time I got to choose everything in my order. I didn't get anything that I didn't like or wouldn't eat, the entire box is suited to my tastes. Which means I got to order a whole lot of chocolate peanut bars - I love those things! I could eat that as my entree morning noon and night if it was part of the plan! I did add some variety to my order but not much. For me I like eating the same main entree over and over again with little variation. For me, its what I thrive on for success. Here's why:

The Nutrisystem entrees are always coupled with fruit and a dairy, fruit and a protein, a dairy or protein plus veggies or a fruit plus veggies. Even if I ate the same nutrisystem entrees all the time I still get tons of variety with the fruits and vegetables plus dairy or proteins that I choose to combo my entrees with.

One way I have learned to expand my fruit and veggie options is by frequenting my local farmers market once a week, or more if time permits. This is one of the hugest tips for success that I could give someone. I always thought that fruits and vegetables were really expensive, which is why I only bought them sparingly. In most cases, they are really expensive at a grocery store chain. I swear every week I bring home around three bags of full of fruit and veggies and no matter what I get that week it only costs me about $20 - or less! At my grocery store for the same amount of food I would normally spend about $40-50. I am now a huge advocate of shopping at the local farmer markets now, HUGE.

My Progress

During this last month I have been able to reflect on my eating habits a lot. I had some tough times and I noticed that during those tough times I reached for food to comfort me. I never really saw myself as an emotional eater but I am realizing that is exactly what I am. For some reason I feel the need to cry with food, celebrate with food and when I'm bored be entertained by food. I don't know why this is or when it started. I guess its possible I have been living this way my whole life.

I am really excited to continue on my Nutrisystem journey. I continue to learn more about myself each day, some good and some bad, but I'm learning about me and that's important. This next month should prove to be better for me in many ways. My boys will be back in school and I will be settling back into a normal routine and a normal eating schedule. I can't wait!

Just yesterday a friend a I were talking about just doing the right thing. Imagine what life would be like if everyone did the right thing. No worry about thieves or anyone else. I'm impressed with the Home Depot clerk.

Those strawberries look so good and so does that blueberry muffin. How does the taste compare to a regular muffin? Blueberry muffins are my favorites!
