Must Have iPhone Apps for Moms

Recently over the last couple of months I got myself an iPod Touch, plus a new droid phone so needless to say I have been a little app happy between the two.  I have been on the lookout for great apps that make life easier, especially being a busy mom of three, I need all the help I can get!  I was browsing Parenting.com and came across a list of 18 free and paid iPhone/iPod/iPad apps perfect for moms.  Naturally my curiosity was peaked and I happened to come across some awesome new apps so I thought that I would share a few of my faves from their list with you.

Smart-ICE4family

ICE stands for In Case of Emergency - just in case you didn't know.  This app could literally be a lifesaver.  It allows you store your emergency medical info for you and your family so that when in an emergency family and friends can convey the correct info to medical professionals if you are unable to.  This must have app also contains an alarm system that can convey your location to 911 and you can also record a note for EMS to hear when they get there if needed.  I think that the Smart-ICE4family app is totally worth the $4.99.

SitorSquat Bathroom Finder

With all the road trips that we have been taking lately and having three small children that need to go to the bathroom at any given moment I thought that SitorSquat Bathroom Finder app was the best app ever!  This app finds bathrooms close to your location and offers ratings as well as if there are changing tables and handicapped access.  Also if you come across a bathroom that isn't in the database you can add it.  This app is free and totally worth it if you have kids cause you know that they always wait until the last possible minute to let you know that they gotta go.  I also found it available on droid so I downloaded this one to my phone.

Mom Maps

Seeing as we just moved I found Mom Maps to be a really helpful app.  It found my location via GPS and then looking at the map I was able to search out nearby parks, and I could also see their size and what highways that they were next to.  Mom Maps is better suited for Metro areas so in the small town that I moved to there wasn't a ton of info to be found.  However, in a metro area, especially those that we drive through when we are looking for fun things to do in our new state, it provides tons of info.  And just like the Bathroom Finder app you can contribute to the database - which is what I just might have to do to get some things on the map in my new hometown.  Oh yeah, this app is FREE.

Like I said these were only a few of the 18 apps recommended by Parenting.com.  I recommend checking out the list for yourself and seeing what other awesome apps that you might be missing out on.

Do you have any great apps that I should download?  Tell me about them, I'm dying to know!

Hi Kimberly,

Thanks so much for mentioning Mom Maps! I conceived the app after I moved to a new city - San Francisco - with a toddler and one on the way. So I'm always up for adding new places for my users!

Please feel free to send me an email if there's a place you'd like me to add at jillseman at mommaps.com. I love to discover and explore new places that are kid friendly!

SitOrSquat is another great app. I use it all the time. Another resource is Momswithapps which has a site and app dedicated for kid friendly apps with over 100 parent developers. They do giveaways and discounts every Friday.

Thanks again for the mention!

I love my iPhone. It comes in handy with he kids sometimes. I work and subscribe to DISH Network and have the TV Everywhere app on my iPhone. it's great for when I am grocery shopping with the kids or running any kind of errands. The kids can watch any of our subscription channels live from my iPhone anywhere we are at. They can also access our DVR recordings from there too. It is such a life saver sometimes.
