Aloha Friday - Bees

[alohafriday.jpg]

Aloha Fridays are brought to you by Kailani from An Island Life. Over there in Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So Kailani thought that on Fridays she would take it easy on posting, too. So, for Aloha Friday, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Answer my question and put one of your own up on your blog. Link up and check out other blogs that participate at An Island Life.

Are you afraid of bees?

I am terrified of bees if they come near me.  I just hate the buzzing sound not to mention the fact that they could sting me!  The worst are wasps. They are relentless and I swear they love to follow me and taunt me.  Lately they have been all around my house.  Every time I open my garage one flies in and I have to chase it out.  One flew into the car the other day while I was getting the kids all buckled up.  Like a crazy mom I ran from the car freaking out!  I know I looked like a freak to the neighbors watching me from across the street, doing the spaz dance, running in circles in my driveaway screaming.  But I just couldn't help it.  I can't be the only weirdo out there - anyone else out there fear bees just as much as I do?

I am mildly afraid, but I feel like all animals sense fear and pounce on it, so I try to be calm! I have only been stung once (and it was only a few years ago). I cried because it freaked me out so much!

I'm not afraid of them, however they do freak me out a little so, I always try to remain calm when I see one.

I'm not afraid of bees but I totally avoid them. I have an anaphylactic allergic reaction to bee stings. I carry an epinephrine injection with me at all times. Interestingly my first husband (of 21 years) was 5th generation beekeeper. He would have to strip down and put all his clothes in the washing machine when he came home or I would have an allergic reaction from his clothes!

You can rest assured you are not alone - I freak out and run from them too - probably because I got stung twice when I was young, the first time when I was 4. That leaves a lasting impression! ;)

I have a healthy fear of their ability to hurt me but I do not freak. As a kid I was foolish enough to catch one, that didn't end well.

No, I would not say afraid. I do not like them because when I was a child I was walking barefoot and stepped right on the stinger of one and it HURT!

I'm cautious of them , but not scared. I want my children to understand them and to take necessary precautions.

Nah...I'm bigger than they are. They do get annoying in the late summer.

Have a great day!
