Do You Love Nads?

7:54 PM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

As most women do I am constantly shaving and/or tweezing my face, arms and legs. Well, my face and armpits anyways. I am way too lazy to shave my legs unless I plan on wearing a dress or my lady parts are getting an visit from someone other than the person I am married to.

I have been getting sick of conventional methods for hair removal so I when I saw Smooth Away I really wanted to try it. My very first attempt to try Smooth Away was using the smallest piece to try to ward off the stache that tends to grow like a Chia Pet.

I prepped my face as per the directions and then I was ready to rock. Seemed simple right? Rub this little doohickey above my lip carefully and voila, no more hair. Or so I thought. Apparently I rubbed just a little too long. When I was finished the hair had disappeared but so did the first five layers of my skin! Here's the kicker - only one one side. So one side was great and the other RAW. Finally after three weeks of lotioning the crap out of my upper lip I was back to normal.

This whole experiment got me thinking about different hair removal systems that I have been swayed by. I've tried many but there was one that has been around forever that I have yet to try. That product is Nad's. Even now, I can't help but laugh at that awesome name. I feel like I'm in seventh grade all over again!

Do any of you remember when Nad's came out in 1992? Those infomercials were on all the time! Seriously, who could take a product seriously when its name was a synonym for a part of male anatomy? Funnier still originally the process was to roll the gel into little "balls" and then smooth them out over the hair covered skin. I still remember to this day the founder of the company telling me that I just needed to "flick and peel" the Nad's and the hair would be gone. Nad's. I'm still laughing about it!

Apparently nowadays Nad's is still around. I seriously had no idea. They now have hair removal cream in addition to gel. I do like the fact that Nad's is all natural, which isn't something I could have or would have appreciated in the seventh grade.

After my horrible experience with Smooth Away I am actually entertaining the idea of using Nad's, especially for facial hair removal. They even have a wand so that when you are applying the hair removal cream you can do it with precision around your brows before placing the hair removal wax strips on your face. Intriguing but I get really nervous about my eyebrows. I always have a small fear that I will end up like Jason Biggs in My Best Friends Girl.

What about you? Have you ever tried Nad's? If you have any hair removal horror stories please feel free to share them here. Or am I only the one that is hair removal challenged?

Aloha Fridays are brought to you by Kailani from An Island Life. Over there in Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So Kailani thought that on Fridays she would take it easy on posting, too. So, for Aloha Friday, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Answer my question and put one of your own up on your blog. Link up and check out other blogs that participate at An Island Life.

Have you ever tried to drastically change your lifestyle and your schedule? Did it work?

On Monday the hubby and I are attempting to completely switch our schedules around. Normally we go to bed late, like after midnight at the earliest, and get up early. He gets up at 6 and I get up at 7ish with the kids. Starting on February 1st we really want to try to see if we can start getting up at 4 in the morning and go to bed at around 9. Our plan is to get up, eat breakfast and then workout together. Then we can get our showers done and be ready for the day before the kids get out of bed. I'm not sure if its gonna work but I definitely want to give it shot. Have you ever tried to drastically change your lifestyle and your schedule?

This weeks featured blogger is Ria from Cabral Family Blog. This easy going and fun mom of three wanted to share a video of her youngest daughter, Abi. Abi is dancing around in true cute baby style. I love these types of videos because for some reason watching babies do funny stuff never gets old. Abi is only a week or so younger than Emilio so I can relate to this momma! When your done watching Abi, go stop by the Cabral Family Blog and say hi! Ria has lots of great posts and even one from her hubby! Which I find awesome because Oscar wouldn't be caught dead blogging, ha ha. Without further delay, please enjoy Abi - check out her robot dance moves!

Learn More About the Cold and Flu in Your Area with the Triaminic Cold and Flu Tracker - Plus Get a Coupon for $1.50 off Triaminic Products

1:31 PM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

This time of the year is notorious for the cold and flu viruses to run rampant. Those of us with small children are on heightened alert because we know just how hard it is to combat those germs from coming into our home. Our family is no exception. We got hit heavy and hard last week with what's been going around in our neck of the woods.

It started last Wednesday night with my little baby Emilio. Ever since he was four months old he has had trouble with croup. Now that he is 18 months it still isn't any easier but at least I am better equipped to deal with it. I took him to the pediatrician on Thursday so he could get some steroid meds to reduce the swelling in his throat. Its so hard to hear that cough in the little ones because you know that they have no idea how to spit out the phlegm and blow their nose. Then the doctor hooked us up with some nebulizer treatment meds and we were good to go. That was Thursday.

Then came Friday. Oscar, my oldest, came home from school and was just super grouchy so I knew that something was up. He immediately put his jammies on and then laid on the couch for the next three hours, with you guessed it, a fever. When he was awake intermittently he was coughing a little bit and here and there. One thing about him though is that he is always willing to take medicine to feel better. So I whipped out the Tylenol Fever Reducer and the Triaminic thin strips and sent him to bed.

If you have never used Triaminic thin strips I totally recommend them. They are small, thin, strips of perfectly measured cold medicine that dissolves on your child's tongue. They are so easy to use and if needed your child can wash it down with a few sips of water. Much easier to use than the liquid Tylenol. That stuff is so messy and sticky. I having to slowly dispense it in their mouths too. I don't blame them for wanting to avoid that medicine, I did too as a kid. I didn't even know until just now that Triaminic had the strips for fever too or I most definitely would have used that instead. Now that the bottle of Tylenol is all used up I am not going to buy another one. Its Triaminic thin strips all the way in this house from here on out!

Anyways, back to my sicky story. On Saturday Oscar felt tons better and his fever was gone. He was able to play at his basketball game and did awesome too! Luckily for him he has always bounced back really quickly from being sick. I thought I was out of the woods but I should have known better. Saturday night we put the boys to bed and within an hour I was hearing terrible coughs. The loud, barking croupy cough. So I ran up the stairs expecting it to be Oscar but instead I found it was Benji!

Benji our 4, nearly 5 year old, had the croup! To top it all off he had a fever as well! I was in a panic because his coughs were so bad that he couldn't even talk. I called the consulting nurse and she advised me to call 911 and have the medics come out and take a look at him just to be on the safe side. So while the other two boys were sleeping soundly the local fire department EMT's came to the house and checked Benji over. Luckily he was okay by the time that they had arrived but it was scary there for a second. Since I all ready had the croup meds from Emilio's doctor visit I the medics said that if I wanted I could use them on Benji. So that's what I did. He got a nebulizer treatment and some Tylenol.

Sunday morning came and all three boys were feeling much better. Benji's cough had gotten better and the other boys were doing great too. We had family over that day and the boys seemed very much like themselves. All was well in the world again.

Or so I thought. Sunday night we put the boys to bed, both with the Nighttime Triaminic. About an hour later Oscar woke up coughing and then he threw up about three times all over his bed! Luckily I was right there before he threw up so I could guide him to do it all over his bed instead of on the carpet. Either way it was not a fun night.

Thankfully this week we seem to have gone by without any problems. The older boys are still taking the Triaminic in the morning and at night but they are definitely well on their way to getting over the sickies.

When I learned the other day that Triaminic was the center of a blog tour I really wanted to be a part of it. Especially in light of recent events in our household. Plus we love Triaminic in our house and I don't know what we would do without it when the kids get the sickies.

Triaminic has this great tool on their site called the Cold and Flu Symptom Tracker. You can track the activity levels in your state so you can better prepare your family when the levels are on the rise. Keep tabs on the most active cold & flu areas, and follow local sickness incidence levels from week to week based on data from SDI Fan® (a source used by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).
It also shows the top five cities in which the cold and flu virus is the highest. I live closest to Seattle and it showed that we have a moderate risk level. It will be interesting to see if it rises or falls over the coming weeks.

In addition to the Cold and Flu Symptom Tracker there is tons of great information about not only preparing for the cold and flu but how to handle the sick days once they arrive. You can download the Sick Day Guidelines Tip Sheet to keep on hand. I took the Test Your Sick Day Smarts quiz and learned a lot. Did you know that it is common for children to get 6-10 colds per year? Wow! That's a lot of colds! I have three kids so does that mean that potentially I will be dealing with cold and flu symptoms up to 30 times a year! The common cold is also the most common reason that kids and adults call in sick to school and work. Needless to say the Triaminic site has lots of useful information.

Visit Triaminic and get a coupon for $1.50 off your next Triaminic purchase.

I know that I will definitely be taking advantage of this because I am now almost out of all the cold meds after this latest epidemic. I hope that everyone takes advantage of this coupon and stocks up their medicine cabinet in preparation for the season.

Wordless Wednesday - And You Thought That Your Laundry Situation Was Bad!

12:00 AM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

Okay, I am really good at washing clothes but I suck at putting them away. I would seriously consider hiring someone if I wasn't so picky about where everything went. This is one task that I need to manage just a teensy bit better. And you thought that your laundry was piled up! The sad thing is that all this laundry is just mine and Oscar's plus sheets and towels. At least I have made an effort to keep up on the kids laundry! I hope I make some of you feel better about your own laundry piles - cause you know that its gotta be better than mine! This is my current situation:

A shot from my bedroom door,

and then another shot looking into my closet. (Which by the way I probably shouldn't mention the fact that I fell on my ass tripping over the clothes just to take this picture!)

I had so much that I had to put the rest in my guest bedroom for overflow control. I seriously waited until my parents left before I washed this stuff cause I had no where to put it!

And what do you know, there is more in both the washer and the dryer. I swear its a vicious, never ending cycle. Will I ever win?

Because this was so wordy I also am gonna join in with Wordful Wednesday at Seven Clown Circus.

For more Wordless Wednesday check out Five Minutes for Mom.

Are You Ready For Some Football? Check Out Dean's Dipstakes and Win! Dean's Dip Review and Giveaway - 8 Winners!

2:33 PM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

Deans's Dip Dipstakes

One thing is certain, in this house we are all HUGE dip fans. Whether it onion dip, salsa, guacamole, ranch or barbeque we all love to dip. There are so many different dips out there to choose from and I want to try them all! I have especially been looking into dips that would go great with veggies, cause lets face it, everyone in our family could use more veggies in their diet. I have a hard time forcing the boys to eat their vegetables when I don't eat that many myself.

When I was asked to try out Dean's Dip and help spread the word about the DipStakes Sweepstakes obviously I couldn't resist! I was way too excited to try out some new dips that our family could enjoy together. These are the Dean's Dip flavors that I decided to try:

Deans's Dip DipstakesDeans's Dip DipstakesDeans's Dip Dipstakes

I chose those three for different reasons. I love the French Onion dip, it is always a favorite of mine. My husband likes the honey mustard, that's his fave. We all love the ranch dip for carrots, cucumbers and broccoli - even chicken nuggets! These dips will do wonders for us while we are transitioning ourselves into eating healthier snacks. Definitely worth checking out if your family is big into dipping like ours is.

The Super Bowl is right around the corner and we all probably either go to or host a Super Bowl party. No Super Bowl party would be complete without fabulous appetizers to munch on, and dip is definitely a must have for any spread.

Dean's Dip is celebrating the Super Bowl XLIV by hosting the DipStakes Sweepstakes! The DipStakes started on 11/03/2009 but ends on 2/09/2010 so there is still time to enter!

The DipStakes is full of great weekly prizes including:
  • Dean's Dip Tailgate pack - which includes items like Dean’s® Dip Dairy Products, Chip/Dip Tray, Chip Clips, Stadium Blanket, Appetizer Serving Set, One (1) Free Dean’s® Coupon

  • Backyard BBQ Package includes BBQ with a Set of Utensils and One (1) Free Dean’s® Coupon
Fifteen Weekly Prize winners will each receive one of three prize packages, each package is valued at $300. There are only two weeks left to enter for a chance to win one of the prize packages.

What would any sweepstakes be without a great Grand Prize right? The DipStakes is offering one randomly selected sweepstakes entrant:
  • Grand Prize - which is a home entertainment system consisting of one large screen TV, five speakers, one stereo amplifier, one tuner and one Blu-Ray/DVD player. Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”): $4,000.00, and a one year’s supply of FREE Dean’s® Dip Coupons valued at $2.99 each, ARV $155.48. The Total “ARV” of the Grand Prize is $4,155.48.

True Story Tuesday - Benji Say What?!!

12:00 AM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

To link up and check out other True Stories go visit Once Upon a Miracle.

In previous posts I have mentioned that my four year old, almost five year old, Benji has lots of questions. He has a lot to say in general actually. Nearly everything he says cracks me up, for realz. Not just what he says but the complete and utter seriousness in which he says it. For this weeks True Story Tuesday I thought that I would share with you all a few of his most recent gems.

Benji: I want you to have two more babies. Emilio needs someone to play with.

Me: Really? Two more? What about just one more? Would it be a boy or a girl?

Benji: Okay, I guess one is good. A boy though, we need another boy.

Me: What! No way! I have three boys all ready! What about a girl? Wouldn't it be cool to have a sister?

Benji: (begrudgingly) All right Mommy, you can have girl. Its okay. When is it gonna come? Now?

Me: Uh, no! Not for awhile dude, not for awhile. But thanks for your permission.

Benji: Your welcome Mommy!

**************************

This particular incident took place at my mother-in-laws house. My brother-in-law lives with her and before he lost is job recently he was constantly throwing money at my kids when he was drunk - which was all the time. Obviously now that he is unemployed its a different story. This is where Benji's tact that he inherited from my side of the family shines through, unfortunately.

Benji: Tio - I need to tell you something. Something in your ear. Come here!

Tio: (gets close to Benji so he can lean in and whisper in his ear) What is it homie?

Benji: (in a loud whisper) Tio, do you have any money?

My Mother-in-Law: Benji, what do you need money for?

Benji: To put in my piggy bank!

**************************

One day I was trying to get Benji ready for school before the bus came to pick him up and we were arguing over which coat he should wear to school.

Me: Put this coat on Benji, it is a 4T, the one that you want to wear is a 3T.

Benji: I don't want to wear that one!!! (he is quickly trying to get on the 3T coat)

Me: (taking off the other one) Just wear this one cause its bigger. PUT IT ON!

Benji: (throws down the 3T coat on the floor and starts to put it on) I'm gonna wear this one, and there isn't SHIT you can do about it!

Me: (in astonishment) Did you just say there isn't SHIT I can do about it?!!

Benji: (so quietly) Mmmm, yes. (then he started to cry)

Me: Oh Benji! Don't cry. But you can't say that word! If you said that at school you would get in so much trouble (me too, I'm thinkin') - don't ever say it again, promise?

Benji: (sniffling) Okay, I promise. But I'm not gonna wear that other coat.

****************************

Isn't he just the cutest? I have such a hard time not laughing at most of the things that come out of his mouth. But I have to hold back or he takes it personally, like I'm making fun of him - which I guess I kind of am. But come on, wouldn't you?

Pamper Your Partner for Valentine's Day with Eden Fantasys- Review and Giveaway

4:17 PM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

February is right around the corner and before you know it Valentine's Day will be here. I love Valentine's Day for a couple of reasons: I know that I am going to be able to score a massage and a good meal, even if I may be the one to cook it. Plus its the one day of the year that my husband knows that he should do something nice for me. You would think that he would on birthdays and anniversaries, but no. Just not his style. When Valentine's Day comes around he knows that its a day that he must get off his butt and please me in some way, shape or form.

This Valentine's Day is going to be awesome! It is on a Sunday, so I know that he will be home and won't have to work late - like every other past year. I can't tell you how many V-Day's we spent having dinner at 10-11 at night. Since we have had kids we usually don't go out to eat unless we have a sitter. This year we don't but that's okay cause we are gonna put the kids to bed early and then have our romantic steak dinner, followed by a movie on demand and then well, you know....

I am so looking forward to our night in together! I am planning to sport my lingerie that I got from Eden Fantasys to kick off our alone time, that always guarantees a good massage. This year, I can't wait for a GREAT massage! In the past we have used the Shunga Massage Kit but I am loving my newest massage kit that I was sent to review, the Contour I + Beyond Euphoric sensory set by Jimmyjane. It is gives a ridiculously awesome massage, which is surprising since my husband was the one wielding the contour tool.

The Contour I + Beyond Euphoric sensory set contains Contour I ceramic massage stone and Beyond Euphoric massage lotion. Together the two work hand in hand to give one of the best massages that I have ever gotten - from my hubby that is! I don't think it beats out a professional masseuse by any means but it is definitely a close second! The size, shape and smoothness of the Contour I help manipulate the muscles in a way that tired fingers can't. I love that hubby just has to follow the techniques and its that easy for him to give a great massage. The Beyond Euphoric Massage lotion is awesome! It is all natural, paraben and glycerin free. It is a great moisturizer and has a light scent. The light scent really adds to the aromatherapy of the massage, there is nothing worse than a foul smell to get in the way of a good massage. I have had that happen at Gene Juarez before and even though the massage was good I couldn't relax totally because the fragrance of the lotions that the masseuse used were super strong and very malodorous.

Even though there is a pamphlet in the box that explains them it was way better to see that Eden Fantasys had a video review of them so that we could watch the proper way to use the Contour I. I am definitely more of a visual learner so it was nice to see that there was an easy to follow video that was provided by an Eden Fantasy reviewer. It was a perfect introduction and only lasted about three minutes, even I can keep focused for that long!

In fact, that is one of my favorite things about Eden Fantasys. All the products are reviewed and rated by honest people that have actually used the products. They give so much information prior to purchasing that you are well equipped to make an educated decision when buying. The massage kit that I received was rated 4 out of 5 stars, based on 25 votes. It also was selected as one of Eden Fantasys top ten kits based on sales statistics. Needless to say, when I was browsing the site and came across this massage kit in particular I knew that I just had to try it out for myself. I also knew that if I had any questions about the product that I also have the option to send a message to one of Eden Fantasys product experts or go into the forum and poll the community. I have found the Eden Fantasys Forum community to be an extremely helpful and knowledgeable tool in the past. In honor of this review and Valentine's Day I started a poll in the Relationships section of the forum. You know you wanna vote on this poll! Check it out here. Besides, its always cool to see what others think and one of my favorite parts is reading all the creative screen names that people come up with! I suck creatively so I just went with PrettyPinkMomma - shocking, I know.

Bottom line, if you are looking for some great ways to please yourself or your Valentine this February you should definitely check out Eden Fantasys. They have everything you can think of from candles to lingerie, sex toys and more. This adult webstore has the biggest selection of goodies that I have ever seen. Undoubtedly you will find something that suits you and/or your Valentine so that you can have the best V-Day ever!

Stay on Track With Your Weight Loss Goals by Eating Yoplait Delights - Review and Giveaway - 5 Winners!

11:03 PM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

Many of you have signed up to receive the free samples of Fiber One yogurt from Yoplait. In that post I told you that I personally detest yogurt. I may buy tons of it for my kids, but I truly do not like it. That is until now.

I have discovered one of the newest additions to the Yoplait family, Yoplait Delights. Yoplait sent me some vouchers to try out four packages. Which I'm glad that they did because I would never spend my own money on buying yogurt for myself. I have tried so many kinds and never found any that tasted good. Seeing as it was free I figured, what the hell?

So I went to my local grocery store and picked up a couple of packs, the Lemon Torte and the Triple Berry Creme. I figured that two was enough to try to start with. Let me tell you, I took my first bite of the Triple Berry Creme and it was actually good! The berry part is good, but the creme is delicious! My curiosity was peaked so I tore right into the Lemon Torte to see what it tasted like. I loved that one even more! It has a lemon flavor that is a bit tart but balances perfectly with the creme. The best part about the Delights is that there are only 100 calories in each 4 oz cup. Finally, a yogurt that I can eat without wanting to throw up! I never would have believed it possible. I actually ate two in a row, well technically three, but I gave a bite to Emilio and from then on I was forced to share this yogurty goodness with him because he wouldn't leave me alone after he tasted it.

After such a positive experience with the first two I really wanted to try the other two flavors, Chocolate Raspberry and Creme Caramel. The Chocolate Raspberry was pretty good. The chocolate part of it actually tasted chocolatey instead of like barf, which is what other chocolate yogurts that I have tried tasted like. It did have mild aftertaste that I could do without but all in all it was an okay experience. I didn't really like the raspberry top considering that it just tasted like raspberry yogurt and not the yummy creme like on the previously mentioned ones that I tried. Unfortunately the Creme Caramel, I have to say in my opinion, does in fact taste like barf. It was the only one that I tried that just tasted so gross I couldn't even finish it. I ended up throwing away the whole pack because my kids wouldn't touch it either. Out of the four flavors it was the only one that I didn't like.

That being said, I really think that the Yoplait Delights would be an awesome treat for yourself if you were trying to lose weight and stay away from the sweets. If you felt like cheating you could totally indulge on one of these and not feel guilty because each cup is only 100 calories!

Now if I could only convince Yoplait to come out with my ultimate cup flavor, Chocolate Creme. That would be the best! All the yumminess of chocolate and the delicous creme on top! If they made this I think that it would become a must have in my fridge. Not to mention a weight watcher's dream come true!

Yoplait Delights can be found at your local grocery store for around $3 per four pack. For more product info visit the Daily Delight site. There you can find the nutrition facts for each cup as well as a link to a $1 off coupon.

Want to try Yoplait Delights for free? I knew you would!

Five lucky Pretty Pink Momma readers will each receive two coupons for one free four pack of Yoplait Delights!

Aloha Friday - Girl Scout Cookies

12:00 AM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

Aloha Fridays are brought to you by Kailani from An Island Life. Over there in Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So Kailani thought that on Fridays she would take it easy on posting, too. So, for Aloha Friday, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Answer my question and put one of your own up on your blog. Link up and check out other blogs that participate at An Island Life.

What is your favorite Girl Scout Cookie flavor?

I ordered 8 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies and I can't wait to get my hands on them! I ordered the classic Thin Mint and of course my very favorite, Samoas, yummy! What is your favorite flavor?

Photobucket

I would love if you want to help spread the word about Video Thursday and participate. Just grab the Video Thursday button on my sidebar and post one of your favorite videos, either personal or one circulating around the web. Don't forget to link up so I can check out your video!

Do you have a great video that you would like me to feature on Video Thursday? I want to see them! Send me an email that includes your name, your video find, your blog and you can be featured on Video Thursday! Don't have blog? That's okay just send me your video if you want to share just because. Videos can be something hilarious you came across on the internet or a personal one that you want to share with the world.

I am so pissed at myself for forgetting to watch American Idol! I love the auditions - they are the reason for even watching American Idol in my opinion. Well when I went to work last weekend all the rage was "Pants on the Ground" guy. Of course, I had no idea what everyone was talking about so I went to YouTube and watched for myself. Hilarious. Just in case you were a lame-o like me and missed it, here it is - enjoy!

Get Sleek, Sexy Hair Using a Flat Iron - Learn How to Help those in Haiti with a Flat Iron

11:27 AM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

I don't show many pictures of myself online but when I have my hair is usually straight in the pictures. One of the reasons that I don't take a ton of pictures of myself is that I usually don't flat iron my hair when I am sitting at home with the kids - which is how I review most products. If I did, you would see me with my naturally curly hair. I prefer the flat ironed look for myself, I have been flat ironing my hair for the last ten years. One of my best friends is a hair stylist and she has taught me how to get a great look while flat ironing my own hair. We all know that the best look is when someone else can flat iron it for you, but how many of us realistically have someone to do that for us on a regular basis?

Here are my tips for getting amazing results for flat ironing your hair:

The biggest tip - is to have a great flat iron. I currently use a Hana Elite 1" Flat Iron from Misikko. This flat iron gets up to 450 degrees and is awesome! Below are my tips to use with any flat iron that will help you achieve the salon look that you are going for.

1. Get a great blow dryer. I prefer one that is 1850 watts and has a hot and cold blow setting. It is not the most important aspect of flat ironing but it helps out a ton when you have straighter hair to start with.

2. Once my hair is dry then I quickly run my flat iron through all of my hair. Once I am finished I separate my hair into three main sections. I have really thin hair so all I need is three - you may need more. For the most part my sections are separated into the top sections of my head, the middle and then the bottom. The top two I keep in place with an alligator prong clip.

3. First I start by flat ironing the bottom section. I use a fine tooth comb and carefully follow the comb strokes with the flat iron. This helps keep the hair separated and untangled during the straightening process.

4. Immediately after flat ironing the section, set your blow dryer to the cold air setting and blow out the bottom section. This process helps set the style.

5. Repeat steps 4 and 5 with the remaining sections.

6. When you have finished with all of the sections do any final touch ups with the flat iron and give it one final blow with the cold air.

7. At this point I add flexible hold hairspray to keep my bangs set in place as well as any baby hairs that surround my face.

8. This step is optional but I find that it works well for me too. When I am completely done I will step outside - if its chilly out - and let my head cool off. This is the same principle as the cold shot with the dryer but I notice that no matter what dryer I have its just not as cold as the outside is.

Follow my tips and I can guarantee that you will have sleek, sexy hair!

If you don't have a great flat iron I want to encourage you to purchase one of the Hana line of products from Misikko. With every Hana flat iron purchase from today until February 3, 2010, the CEO of Hana will send you a blank check for $25 to give to any charity that you wish - all though he is hoping that you will give to Haiti. Here is his message.

What an awesome guy and an awesome company! To show his appreciation for my help in spreading the word about what Hana is trying to do for Haiti they even offered to send me a travel flat iron - how generous is that? I would have shared this info anyways but receiving a travel flat iron for a gift is just above and beyond.

So, if you have been thinking about getting a new flat iron, now is the time! Please visit Misikko and purchase any Hana appliance before February 3, 2010 and receive a $25 blank check for your charity.

Wordless Wednesday - Oscar's First Basketball Game

12:00 AM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

Oscar started to learn how to play basketball this season. Finally an indoor sport! These are pics of his very first game. It was pretty funny watching all of them chase the ball around on the court. He plays on the team with one of his very best buds, Brad. Brad is our next door neighbor, and the son of Tammy from Tammy's Two Cents.

Help Eliminate Shoe Clutter with Shoes Under - Review and Giveaway

11:39 AM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

Last week in my Wonder Hangers review post I mentioned that I am trying to calm the closet chaos. I don't know about you, but with five people living in our house the shoe chaos in the closet can get totally out of control. It also seems that my boys are just hellbent on leaving their shoes everywhere no matter how many times I tell them to put their shoes away. I must admit that I am guilty of leaving my shoes in the hall by the door too sometimes. I keep majority of my shoes in my bedroom closet but I have to keep a couple pairs downstairs because I don't want to run all the way upstairs just to get some flip flops on to run out to the bus stop or get the mail. So in order to put an end to the chaos I was eager to review Shoes Under.

Shoes Under is a light weight and affordable way to keep shoes organized, and put an end to shoe clutter. You can store it under your bed to utilize the unused space, or just use it to organize the space that is all ready being used. Shoes Under holds 12 pairs of shoes, keeping them in reach and out of the way. There are two rows of six pockets that neatly keep shoes separated. The easy to see through zipper cover allows the user to quickly find the pair of shoes that they are looking for. It doesn't have to be used just for shoes either! You can store accessories like belts, hats, scarves, gloves or even a collection of clutches, if your a clutch junkie like me. Basically anything that will fit into the compartments you can store in an organized way.

I personally used my Shoes Under to handle the chaotic mess I call a hall closet. Let me show you the before picture and you will see what I mean:

Here is the after picture:

I like that I was able to organize the shoes quickly and easily. Also, because kids shoes are so small I could double up the kids shoe spots in order to have more room for my own shoes. I do like that it has contained the shoes and I can see what I need and where it is in just a glance instead of feverishly searching through the closet for for ten minutes. As much as I like how Shoes Under organized our shoes I do think that there are a few cons as well. It didn't store my husbands shoes very well at all because his are so dang big. Also it isn't as sturdy as it appears in the commercial. It is very similar to an under the bed bag, flat and soft. But once all of the spaces are filled it becomes much more durable. The one in our closet has held up great and I store my two giant diaper bags on top of it - believe me, they both weigh a ton!

All in all, Shoes Under is an extremely affordable way to organize your closet clutter. I would definitely consider purchasing a couple for under the bed storage in my guest and children's bedrooms. Shoes Under is available for purchase at shoesunder.com and leading retailers including Walgreens, Wal-Mart, Bed Bath and Beyond, Target, and CVS with a suggested retail price of $10. I have occasionally seen them at discount stores like Ross for even less, so keep an eye out there too.

I know that you want to try this out for yourself so one Pretty Pink Momma reader is going to receive their very own Shoes Under organizer.

I thought I would tell you all a funny little story about Oscar today. This happened about ten years ago, long before we had gotten married and had our children. The good old days when we were livin' it up with no strings attached.

For those that aren't familiar with my blog, you might not know that my hubby is from El Salvador. He came here when he was six and once he got past the ESL thing he did have an American education. If you talked to him today you would never know that english is his second language, as a matter of fact he speaks much better english than spanish. Being in the US from such a young age, majority of what he had to speak to people was english, which is why his spanish skills are not as polished as his english skills. Anyways, on with the story.

Oscar loves to collect Disney movies. Way before we ever had children the man always had to have the latest Disney movie, being a kid at heart, he loves them. One night we were watching a documentary together and it was about Walt Disney. The documentary was dispelling the myth that Walt Disney had been chriogenically frozen and was actually buried. When the grave site picture showed on the TV our conversation went a little something like this:

Oscar: (in disbelief) "Oh my gosh! They spelled his name wrong!"

Me: "Uh, what are you talking about? They spelled it correctly. How do you think its supposed to be spelled?"

Oscar: "D-i-s-n-e-p"

Me: "Disnep? You think his name is Walt Disnep?" (at this point I'm laughing hysterically) "Why do you think that it's spelled with a P? That's a Y, you dumbass!"

Then he whips out one of his Disney movies so that he could prove me wrong. This is what he showed me:

By this time I am really laughing my ass off, I just couldn't help it, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. So our conversation continued:

Oscar: "See! I told you I was right! There's the P right there!"

Me: "That's not a P you dork! That's a cursive Y, it just kinda looks like a P."

Oscar: "What? No way! That's a P! I swear!"

Me: "Uh, think about it, if it really was a P wouldn't it be Disnep instead of Disney?

Oscar: "I can't believe this! I thought that it was a silent P, you know like a silent K or a silent G - or some other screwy english language rule!"

Me: "Well, here's your first clue, there's no such thing as a SILENT P at the end of a word! It only applies to words like psycho. How do you not know that?"

Oscar: "I don't know, I'm not from here! Well, I guess I believe you if you say so, but I'm still gonna double check with the guys at work tomorrow."

Me: "You go right on ahead honey. I'm pretty sure that they'll make just as much fun of you as I am."

This is one of my favorite stories to tell about Oscar, it only comes second to the one where he peed in our fridge. But that one I will save for another day....

Music Monday - Parent's Just Don't Understand

12:00 AM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

Maybe its because my parents have been staying with us for the last few weeks but this song just keeps reeling through my head. It's one of my favorite songs EVA! This song made me fall in love with the Fresh Prince. I used to call his 800 number just to hear his voice on the answering machine. I'm pretty sure that it wasn't free, so I think Will Smith owes my parents some money back for his promises of giving me a call back. Which is what I wished for all the millions of times I called that number and left a message for my favorite rapper. Oh well, a girl can dream!

Come join Music Monday and share your songs with us. One simple rule, leave ONLY the actual post link here. You can grab this code at LJL Please note these links are STRICTLY for Music Monday participants only. All others will be deleted without prejudice.

PS: Because of spamming purposes, the linky will be closed on Thursday of each week at midnight, Malaysian Time. Thank you!

Aloha Friday - A Time to Blog

12:00 AM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

Aloha Fridays are brought to you by Kailani from An Island Life. Over there in Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So Kailani thought that on Fridays she would take it easy on posting, too. So, for Aloha Friday, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Answer my question and put one of your own up on your blog. Link up and check out other blogs that participate at An Island Life.

Where in the day do find time to blog and when do you find time to read your favorite blogs?

I have been spending literally all day in front of my laptop lately. Well, as much as I can considering I am taking care of my kids. I am still trying to find a balance that works for me and for my family. I have been neglecting household chores among other miscellaneous responsibilities just to keep up lately. There has to be a better way, so that's why my question is where in the day do find time to blog and when do you find time to read your favorite blogs?
