Organize Your End of the Year Filing Clutter With New and Improved FIling Products From Smead

11:29 PM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

By this time of year I am usually swimming in paperwork and filing that has been sitting on my counter or at my desk for ages.  I always mean to make the time to get organized but each day is so jam packed with stuff to get done organizing everything is the last item on my list.  Between my house bills, healthcare paperwork and my blog I have a piles of paperwork literally EVERYWHERE.  Thankfully I have some help from Smead with some great products to get me organized and prepared for the end of the year.

November and December are my busiest months blog wise, especially with the launch of my Holiday Gift Guide Event.  I have to keep extremely organized with all my reviews and giveaways that are scheduled because I literally have one scheduled every day over the next month and a half.  I decided to finally get all of my files completely under control so I wont' have any problems finding things when I need them.

Thanks to Smead - here's my new set up:

The Review

TUFF Hanging Folder With Easy Slide Tab

The first thing that I was excited to get all set up with were the TUFF Hanging File Folders.  They are new and improved and SO much better than what I have been used to using in the past!  They are more durable, and easier to put together than ever before.  Gone are the days where the tabs pop out when you are trying to put your papers inside.  The new oversized Slide Tabs easily fit over the top of the hanging folder and lock in to place.  The bright colors are nice to look at too.

Features

  • 11 point colored stock
  • Specially Designed reinforced channel rods
  • Heavy Duty 1/3 cut adjustable plastic tab
  • Coated rod tips
  • 10% recycled content, 10% post-consumer material

SuperTab Oversized Tab Folders

Folders are a must when separating files form one another and with Smead's SuperTab Oversized Tab Folders you have a much larger area to write or label your file folders with.  Larger text makes it easier to spot what you are looking for more easily and quickly.  They fit perfectly inside the TUFF hanging folders, now my papers for my blog are neatly organized and easy to find.

Features
  • 90% larger label area
  • Extra-wide 1/3 cut or 1/2 cut oversized tabs
  • 7/8" high tab, same height as standard 1/3 cut
  • 9 1/2 pt or 11 pt colored or manila stock
  • Scored for 3/4" expansion
  • Contains 10% recycled content, 10% post-consumer material

For me, this small project was only the tip of the iceberg.  I have so much more to organizing to do before I feel like my life and home are completely on track.  One tool that Smead offers for people like me is Smead Organomics.  Smead Organomics can help you get organized personally, professionally and if you have gteat tips you can help others.  Quick tips and trick from the experts can help you, and me,  finally get organize.  Be sure to check them out and also Like them on Facebook too!

Halloween Tips to Stay On Track With Your Weight Loss Goals

12:00 AM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

Earlier this week a fellow Nutrisystem Nation Blogger Brett, from Second Time Around, posted some great tips for staying on track and resisting temptation this Halloween.  They were great tips so I wanted to share them with you as well as few of my own.

Here are Brett's tips:

Don't have temptation around - So I can't necessarily ask my wife to give up candy and not buy any. I also can't let my son not eat his chocolate which he loves so much. So instead I have asked her to hide the good candy I like and not tell me where they are. Then I asked her to only put the candy that I don't like out. This has really helped.

-Buy candy you can eat - I can eat sugar free candy and gum, so I am going to make sure I have that on hand so that way I can grab that instead when I am tempted.

-Eat the delicious Nutrisystem desserts - One way that has been helping is that when I am really craving something sweet, I just eat my Nutrisystem desserts...even if it's not dessert time yet. That way I don't have to deny myself a treat and I don't have to feel guilty after I eat it either.

-Keep Busy! - I have said it before, but I truly think this is one of the best way to help not to indulge and to stick to your diet. When I am busy, I'm not thinking about food. I find that when I am not busy, I tend to eat a lot and keep snacking. When I am busy, I don't have time to snack. So keep busy!

My Tips

-Give Out Things Other Than Candy - Instead of buying candy to pass out you could get some really great Halloween themed Play-Doh singles, pencils, erasers, stickers, vampire fangs, etc..   These are items that kids can use and they won't tempt you.

-Go Out For the Night - Every year before we lived in the neighborhood we live in now, we used to go to a friend or family members house and celebrate with them.  We never needed to buy candy because we weren't home to pass it out.  You could also make a point to go out to dinner during the prime Trick or Treat hours of 6-8 PM.  We even left our neighborhood and took our kids to the local mall for trick or treating there so our kids could still have fun but it was inside where it was warm and dry.

-Don't Participate - If you don't have children and the temptation would be too difficult to resist you could always put a sign on the door that says "Out of Candy", that way the trick or treaters won't ring the doorbell incessantly.

-Remove the Candy November 1st - One thing that we do with all of our left over candy is send it to work with my hubby the next day.  His coworkers and customers devour it all in one day!  Neither he or I have to stare at it for the next few weeks.   We also let our kids eat up what they want the next day and get it all out of their system.  I would rather have them eat it all at once then have candy every day for the next few weeks. Dentists also recommend this method too because the sweets are only on the teeth one day as opposed to several.

I hope that these tips will prove useful for you this Halloween to keep you on track with your weight loss goals.

Have a safe and fun Halloween!

Have a Thougtful Gift Idea? Submit It To Wn a $25 Amazon Gift Card From itsThoughtful.com

12:41 AM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

For me, the very best part about the holidays - aside from spending time with the family, is giving gifts.  I pride myself on my thoughtful, unique gifts.  I love to see the look on the recipients face when I get them something they have wanted for a long time, or when they get something that they had no idea existed but are so glad to have it.  I think that great gifts are a way of showing the ones you love that you pay attention to the things that they enjoy and care about.

Sometimes though, its really hard to think of great ideas.  Christmas is one of those times where your brain is on overload trying to find the best gifts for several people all at once.  That's where a very cool site itsThoughtful.com comes to the rescue.

itsThoughtful.com is an awesome community that is focused on gift shopping.  It's a forum where people can swap great ideas for gifts and also get great ideas if they find themselves stumped when searching out the perfect gift.  Each idea that is submitted is voted on by the community.  The best ideas bubble to the top of the suggestion list.  Members and visitors can then find gift ideas based on recipient, occasion, interests and various other search filters.

I will definitely be using itsThoughtful.com this year to help seek out some gifts for my hard to buy for family members.  You know the ones - they usually have everything they want and can give you no suggestion as to what they could possibly need.  Here are some of my favorite items that bubbled to the top that I think are awesome to give and to receive:

Aloha Friday - Exercise

12:00 AM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

[alohafriday.jpg]

Aloha Fridays are brought to you by Kailani from An Island Life. Over there in Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So Kailani thought that on Fridays she would take it easy on posting, too. So, for Aloha Friday, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Answer my question and put one of your own up on your blog. Link up and check out other blogs that participate at An Island Life.

How often do you exercise?

I have to admit that I have not been the best at making the time to exercise for the last few years.  That is all changing now.  I am making the commitment to start exercising twice a week and then work my way up from there.  Being a member of the Community of Movement the last couple of weeks has given me the motivation and the drive to realize that I can make the time.  I have to.

If you need some motivation to get exercising please check out my giveaway for a Community of Movement one month membership.  The giveaway ends tomorrow and there are no entries so you have a great shot!

Shutterfly Has an Awesome Selection of Holiday Cards - Do You Blog? Get 50 Free Holiday Cards!

7:16 PM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

The holiday season is quickly approaching and by now most of us have started thinking about sending out holiday cards.  Sending out card is something that I haven't done in a few years but I really want to do it this year. I almost got around to it last year so but didn't do it so this year is a must for me.  One of the reasons that I had given up on sending out Christmas cards was the fact that I write in every single card the same greeting and then hand address each one before sending them out.  Now that I have realized that I can purchase affordable photo cards  - greeting included - I want to get back in the game.  I have even learned that I don't have to be all Martha Stewart like and hand address each one.  It's okay to print out the labels and stick them on, nobody cares.  After making the decision to send out holiday cards this year I was thrilled to learn about Shutterfly's holiday greeting card option, all 748 them to be exact!

It took me forever to look around and finally settle on my three favorites.  All of the holiday cards are beautiful and it took me some time to narrow it down to just three that really caught my eye the most.

The first one was this 5x7 Ho Ho Ho Christmas folded card.  I saw one like it last year that I almost got but I ran out time and never ordered.  What I love is the three pictures spots because I have three boys, one headshot for each "O".  Plus, Ho Ho Ho is just a super fun and Christmas-y phrase.  With the folded cards I can write my individual greetings for close family and friends on the inside of the card to make it more individualized.  Adding the photos to the folded card is a great way to personalize a traditional holiday card.

Another card with the same idea as the first yet totally different is the 5x7 Scarlet Frames Story Christmas Card.  I loved the red design details, this holiday photo card looks polished, modern and elegant.  I liked two things about this card.  The first was the ability to write a quick milestone or update beneath each of the kids pictures.  The second is that because it is on a flat stationary card I could technically send it out as is, without an envelope as a post card.  I'm not 100% sure but I think that would mean a cheaper postage rate because it could be sent as a postcard.

My third choice was this Antique Ornaments Christmas 4x8 card.  I love the antique ornaments, they are so pretty.  I thought that the layout was simple and could include either a picture of our whole family or just the boys together.  This is also like a postcard because it could be printed in matte or glossy finish.  It could just be that the boys in the picture really remind me of my little dudes hammin' it up too!  It's easy to picture my boys in the photo space provided.

With over 700 choices I know that you will find a holiday card that is right for you, whatever holidays or occasions that you celebrate.  I was in awe of the options, who knows, I may even change my mind again!

You Can Get 50 Free Holiday Cards From Shutterfly - It's Easy!

If you are a blogger and you want to write up a blog post about the awesome holiday cards available from Shutterfly you will get 50 FREE Holiday Cards!!  I don't know about you but 50 is more than enough for me to send out to my friends and family this year.  This is a great opportunity to save your holiday dollars for something that you really want instead of sending out Christmas cards.

Do you want 50 free holiday cards from Shutterfly? Click here to go to Shutterfly for information on how you can get 50 free cards this holiday season, and make sure to select Clever 1000 as the referral source.

When your post is complete simply fill out this blog post submission form and you will receive your 50 cards!

Enjoy!

This post is part of a series sponsored by Shutterfly. I was selected for this sponsorship by the Clever Girls Collective, which endorses Blog With Integrity, as I do.

Community of Movement - Review and Membership Giveaway + An Awesome Twitter Party Too!!!

2:07 AM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

As you know I have been meeting with my Mommy Motivators group put together through the Community of Movement.  I have now met with the group three times so far and I have to say that it is really working  for me.  I enjoy having the designated meet times every week, each time that I work out I feel energized and ready to start my day.  I was amazed to find that I stayed energized all day and it just made me feel good to know that I followed through with my intent to exercise.

One thing that I really enjoy about the calls is listening to the other moms in the group sharing their feelings and struggles.  I have found that in most cases we are going through much of the same feelings even though we are all at different fitness levels and have different reasons for struggling o with our commitment to exercise.

I wanted to share with you how a typical morning session with the group works.  I put together a video with excerpts of the first five minute call and as an added bonus some footage of me kickin' it old school to MC Hammer's You Can't Touch This on Just Dance for the Wii.  Your welcome :D

After the workout, the group reconnects and discusses how the it all went.  I wanted to get footage of that as well but my camera died!  The point for the meetings before and after the workout is accountability.  The group isn't there to compete or criticize, just to support one another with the common goal of movement.  Movement, how much or how little, is determined by you.  The only point is to get you up and moving at your own pace for as long as you want to do it.

Did you notice how calming the group leader's voice is?  Her questions and statements really get you thinking about yourself and the task at hand.  I love that it prepares my mind for the exercise.  I have found myself looking forward to the phone calls each week.  If you would like to hear more samples of what you can expect during a typical session and membership information please visit Community of Movement.

Nutrisystem is So Supportive! The family that eats right together, loses together

1:32 AM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

As you know, I have been on the Nutrisystem plan now for about 2 and a half months.  I had a slow start but I have been steadily progressing as each week passes.  The first month was the toughest because I was sent a box of food and being that it was my first order I wasn't able to customize it.  I had to try meals out and find out what I liked versus what I didn't.  There were also a lot of food items that I wouldn't have chosen to order had I known about them in advance.  The second order went much better because I could pick out exactly what I wanted based upon my experience with the first shipment.  I just received my third shipment a couple of weeks ago.

I have to say though, in total, I have only lost 6 pounds.  I have had trouble sticking to the plan for two reasons.  I eat out more than I should and I haven't mastered controlling my cravings when I do go out.  The second is my dinners.  I eat dinner super late, usually between 9-10, this is because that's what time dinner gets done after we get the kids to bed.  Oscar doesn't usually get home from work until about 8, and from 8-9 we are taking care of the kids.  That is why its so late.

On top of the time issue I have problems with will power - obviously or I wouldn't be overweight in the first place.  Its simply too hard for me to cook dinner for Oscar every night and not want to eat what I am cooking and serving him.  I have edited the meals here and there and started to supplement with a variety of different vegetables, but it just isn't enough.  I feel guilty because I can stick to breakfast and lunch entrees but when Oscar gets home from work all hell breaks loose.

On Saturday's post I shared that Nutrisystem offers counseling.  When I was talking with my rep and she wanted to know how I was doing with the program so had to be completely honest with her about my dinner situation.  She was so supportive and threw out some great suggestions like making sure that we try our best to eat dinner at an earlier time, not right before bed.  What she said next, got me all in a tizzy....

Nutrisystem has offered to send out meals for my husband as well!  We will be doing the Nutrisystem program together!

I am so excited about this!  Oscar would like to lose anywhere from 20-40 pounds so he was more than willing to jump on board.  I really need his support to help me get where I want to be so doing Nutrisystem together is exactly what I need.  I can't wait to get started on packing his meals and help him get where he wants to be too.  We have decided to make exercising a together a priority as well.  That is another key component that I am still working on adding into my overall weight loss plan.

I will be posting updates about how my husband and I are doing on the plan, what motivates us and what our favorite meals are that we like to eat together.  I strongly believe that if we are both supporting each other that we both will be able to achieve our weight loss goals.

Do You Need Weight Loss Support? Nutrisystem Has Counseling Available For You

12:19 AM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

I have been talking a lot lately this week about having support systems in place.  Making a commitment and being able to stick to it.  I am one of those that needs support, I need someone saying, "Way to go!", in times of triumph.  From time to time I need someone to bounce ideas off of and share my feelings about what I am doing wrong or what I need to change.  Let's face it, I have been unhealthy for so long that learning to live a healthy life is a challenging task.  It requires skills that I am still working on developing.  The kind of changes I need to make just don't happen overnight as much as I wish it could be that way.

Last week my Nutrisystem rep emailed me and was checking in to see how things were going.  I told her about my plan to add more exercise in because I felt that was a key component that I was lacking on implementing into the plan on a regular basis.  I told her how my husband and I bought bikes so that we could go on family bike rides with the boys, but it was scary for me to start because I haven't ridden a bicycle for over 15 years.  She replied back that I really should start slow and not over do it.  I could really tell that she was genuinely concerned about my well being, she asked if we could talk over the phone and discuss some of my issues and my goals.

I have to say, I was a little nervous.  I didn't know what to expect or how the phone call was going to go.  It turned out that I had nothing to worry about.  She was so nice and so supportive towards me.  She knew that I wanted to incorporate more exercise so we brainstormed ways that I could do that wouldn't be over strenuous.  One of the strategies that she told me about was just to make a commitment to do small things each day.  Take walks around the neighborhood with the boys, go on a short bike ride then work up to a longer one.  She and I both have in common that we love our favorite nightly tv shows and she told me that she works out while she's watching tv  I love this idea because I want to be able to incorporate exercise and I don't want to miss my favorite shows either.  One idea that I liked was that during the commercials she suggested running in place and working in the cardio that way, or doing lunges or crunches too.  These are great suggestions and I have started to implement them into my routine.

I had such a good experience talking with her and it really helped to motivate me and get me thinking about the small changes that I can make that will make a big difference over time.  She didn't lecture me or make me feel bad about what I wasn't doing, she focused on the positive and what she could do on her end to help me get where I need to be.  I swear, I could almost feel the hugs through the phone.  And her emails are just as supportive.  We discussed a few other ways that can help me with some of my biggest road blocks with the plan too.  I will be sharing those in my next post though so stay tuned...

Here's the thing - I'm not special.  Nutrisystem is so supportive and they offer counseling to anyone that joins them or is thinking about joining them.  The counseling is free and you can call as often as you need.  They are there to help you succeed in your weight loss goals.  They want you to make sure that they can help you make the most of your plan and support you 100%.  If this sounds like something that you need than I would highly recommend becoming a part of the Nutrisystem family.  When I say family I mean it, because that is how they treat you.  Its exactly what I need.

Aloha Friday - What do you wish you'd known at 13?

3:04 AM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

[alohafriday.jpg]

Aloha Fridays are brought to you by Kailani from An Island Life. Over there in Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So Kailani thought that on Fridays she would take it easy on posting, too. So, for Aloha Friday, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Answer my question and put one of your own up on your blog. Link up and check out other blogs that participate at An Island Life.

What do you wish you'd known at 13?

I just wrote a post for the Dove Self Esteem Movement and it centered around the question posed above.  I thought that it would make a great topic for Aloha Friday today.  I wish that I had known that the love I could give myself was more important than sacrificing my dignity and self esteem for any boy.  That and a flat iron could do wonders for my hair.

I would love it if you would like to put your answer to this question on the Dove Self Esteem Movement post.  I'm sure that you advice would make a great addition to the post.

The Dove Self Esteem Movement - What do you wish you'd known at 13?

2:37 AM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

As a grown woman I can honestly say that when I was a girl I had low self esteem.  I was never as pretty as I wished I was, which was hard because I had some really beautiful best friends.  I felt that my self worth came in the package of being pretty, popular and loved by a cute boy.  Time and time again I set myself up for heartache.  I wish that I had known at 13 some things that I know now.  I can't tell you how often I have thought how different I may have turned out as an adult if I had known a few things earlier in life.

What do you wish you had known at 13?  This is a tough question.  How do you narrow it down?  For me, my biggest struggle was that I was a boy crazy girl.  I always had a crush on someone and I was hellbent on trying to find a boy that would love me back.  I wish that I had known that a boy would love me once he got to know the real me, not the pretend me that I was trying to be, to make him like me.  I wish that I had known that if I spent more time focusing on loving myself that the right boy would come along and love me.  Really love me, for me.  I wouldn't have to struggle with choosing the real me over what I think he want's me to be.

I made a ton of mistakes as a teenager.  Some of my horrible decisions led to harsh consequences that I would live with the rest of my life.  There were times that I took for granted just how lucky I was.  My poor decisions led to me risking my innocence, my virginity and my safety - all of which would most likely never have happened if I had good - make that great - self esteem.  It doesn't help either that when you are young you think that "it" could never happen to you, no matter what the "it" may be.  We all feel invincible when we are teenagers.  We don't realize that some of the choices that we make can haunt us as adults.

When I was asked to participate in spreading the word about Dove's Self Esteem Movement I knew that I had to support it.  I have had a lot of time to reflect on my youth and the choices that I made.  Even now, when I meet girls in their late teens to early twenties I feel compelled to tell them that they love themselves first if I know that they are putting themselves in dangerous situations. I wish that I had someone to talk to when I was younger, someone to tell me to stop and think about my choices before I made them.

As mother's we have important jobs in making sure that our children grow up feeling good about themselves.  I don't have a daughter, but I am one, and I remember at that age I was not open to what my mother had to say.  I didn't think that she could relate to me at all.  I was a fantastic liar too, so my mom never really knew what was going on with me.  I know she tried to but ultimately I didn't share personal things with her because I didn't want to disappoint her.  I came to find out only as an adult married with children that my mom had some really powerful personal stories about her time as a teenager that she didn't have the courage to share with me either at the time.  I wish that she had shared those personal struggles with me back then because I know that I really would have listened to her.  I would have realized that my mom did understand where I was coming from and that I could have gone to her about some of the things that I was going through and she would have understood.  I am glad that my mom found the courage later in life but I remember thinking at the time that she shared those personal stories, that it was helpful information that she withheld from me, that I would have benefited most from in my teens, not my late twenties.

Community of Movement Week One is Completed! How Did it Go?

11:44 AM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

I just finished my second exercise workout this week as a Mommy Motivator.  Like - literally - I just finished my workout about twenty minutes ago.  I have to say, I feel awesome and I am so proud of myself for making the commitment to exercise and following through.  It really does help having an established time set and solid group of people that I know are waiting for me to connect with them.

So..... Here's How it Went

The First Phone Call

Each morning started with a group phone call between myself, the group leader Lisa and the other seven Mommy Motivators.  The first phone call focuses on getting you in the right frame of mind to exercise.  Lisa has very motivating statements and asks us to just open our minds to the experience.  Focus on doing the exercise for you because of the benefits of exercise, which helped to really remind myself that I do love to exercise.  I don't want to feel like its a chore - in reality its something that I want to do for myself.  Lisa also asked the group to share what we were doing for exercise that day as well as our feelings about getting started.  I personally felt anxious that first day.  I was really tired that morning and I wasn't sure how I would feel during and after exercising.

The group call only lasts for about five minutes, just enough time to get motivated so that when you hang up you are ready to get started.  I found that it really helped me knowing that I had a group of women that were doing the same thing as I was and taking that time to do it together.  For exercise on Monday I decided to play Just Dance with my two year old.  He LOVES that game and enjoys dancing with me.  I love the game because I work up a huge sweat and the exercising - all though tiring - seems effortless.  There's no technique to worry about just movement.  Movement is the key goal of Community of Movement.  The group is really about inspiring you to get moving, however you want to and at what fitness level you are comfortable with.

The Exercise Portion

During the first group call this morning we were asked to think about a goal for our exercise.  This was really important for me.  I love setting goals when exercising because being as out of shape as I am, incremental goal setting positively encourages me to continue as I meet each goal.  My goal on Monday was simply to move and dance, see where the experience took me.  My goal for today was different.  I chose this time select some fitness programs from my On Demand cable that were level appropriate for me and follow them from start to finish.  I successfully completed two of the programs that I selected.  The first was more cardio associated and the second was about toning the ab area.  I was really excited because I found an ab routine that could be completed while standing so I didn't have to lay on the floor.  Laying on the floor on my back is extremely painful for me so I was happy to try something different to help strengthen my core.

The Reconnect Call Post Workout

After each 50 minute workout our group reconnects with another five minute call.  Lisa encourages us to share with each other how working out and accomplishing that goal makes us feel.  Its great to hear how the others feel, we share a lot of common feelings.  I think we all sound a bit more energized on the call after we have worked out.  Today I shared with the group how I met my goal of finding and completing an On Demand workout as well as adding some strengthening into my workout instead of all cardio.

My Final Thoughts for the Week

On Monday after my workout, I felt energized the entire day.  Which is saying A LOT seeing as I was only operating on four hours sleep from the night before.  I found that not only did I meet the goal of adding exercise into my day but it actually catapulted my day.  I accomplished more things on Monday than I normally have the energy to do.  Tuesday I didn't make the time to work out and I didn't accomplish anywhere near what I did on Monday.  Today has just begun for me but all ready I am planning on meeting all the goals I set for today.  I am hopeful that I will do just as well as I did on Monday.

So far I have found Community of Movement to be very beneficial.  I make the time to commit to doing exercise and most importantly I follow through.  I am also learning how to incorporate exercise with my toddler around. Dealing with him was one reason that I have put off working out during the day or in the morning because I just didn't think I could get a good workout with him around.  I am now finding that isn't true and it is possible, a little tougher, but possible.  And easier than I thought too.  That in itself is motivating.

What To Look Forward To

Next week I plan to vlog my experience so you can see first hand what a typical session is like. So stay tuned...

If you really want to try out Community of Movement for yourself - which I completely recommend if you need the motivation like I did - Pretty Pink Momma will be giving away one, one month membership that can be redeemed in November or December to a lucky reader!  Keep an eye out for that giveaway coming up soon!

For more information about the Community of Movement you can also visit their blog.  There you can find information about Health and Wellness, Exercise and even Parenting.  Word on the street is that they will be having a Twitter Party on October 28th in celebration of their launch.  There will be some super awesome prizes up for grabs like a Kindle and Amazon gift card, Ipod Nano, Nike+ Sportband, Luluemon gift card and more!  I know I will be there and I can't wait!!  Don't worry, I will remind you about it too so you can make sure to come.

Wordless/Wordful Wednesday - The Black Hole

2:59 AM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

This hole has been in the wall since little Oscar had a temper tantrum about three years ago. Big Oscar never has made the time to fix it, and truth be told I blame him for the hole because he never put the door stopper back in when little Oscar took it out. When Benji was two-ish he went through a phase where he stuck toys down the hole. Luckily we convinced him to knock it off.

Emilio however, is a whole different story.

He absolutely DELIGHTS in putting crap in that hole. Much to my dismay. The fact that it irritates me is probably what delights him so much. We have lost countless toys, wrappers, Wii accessories, food and God knows what else. Last night my one of the handsets for our new phone went missing. I can't find it anywhere.

Keeping my fingers crossed that its not in the black hole...

Sesame Street USB Drive That Includes A Movie, Photo Storage and More! - Review and Giveaway

1:51 AM Posted by Kimberly@PrettyPinkMomma

ATP Electronics and Sesame Street have joined forces and created a cute, functional and fun way for parents to allow their kids to share photos, videos and documents on the go.  The USB drive is perfectly disguised as your child's favorite Sesame Street character and conveniently attaches to bags or personal items and can even be worn as a bracelet.

Each USB drive comes with a video that is centered around that particular Sesame Street character.  The video is a compilation of clips and songs featuring the character.  The movie is great because its fun and interactive - plus it can't ever be mistakenly erased!  The USB drive contains extra storage space for up to 400 photos and can also hold home videos and personal documents.  It's a small and compact way to take learning and personal files on the go.

USB Drive Facts
  • USB drives hold up to 400 photos, 400 songs or virtually an unlimited amount of written content
  • The personal storage portion of the USB drive will work on both Windows and Mac OS X, however the video playback is formatted only for Windows
  • You can watch the video an unlimited amount of times
  • No software installation needed.  Everything is ready to go once the USB drive is inserted
  • The drive is an easy and compact way of transporting full length Sesame Street home videos
  • Each drive contains a new home video surrounding the character of its design
  • Easy to use, simple one screen, one touch process to access the movie, open drive space or link directly to the Sesame Street website
  • The drives are waterproof, dustproof and drop proof
  • The portability of the item makes the drive perfect for travel or home

The Review

I was given the Cookie Monster USB drive for review.  I love the design, it is so adorable!  The rubber that surrounds and protects the USB drive is very soft which adds to the ease of wearing it on your wrist.  The elastic cord that connects the top and bottom pieces is very flexible and strong, it can be worn on adult or child size wrists without any problem.  However, the loops on the side where the cords are attached, all be it they are strong now, I'm not so sure that they could withstand a ton of pulling and tugging before the rubber would break apart.  I have three boys that break just about everything the touch so I tend to look at the durability of things like this.  I'm pretty sure that I could break it if I pulled hard enough but obviously I want to keep it intact so I'm not going to try.  Other than that small detail I think that protective casing is cute and clever.

My boys love the Cookie Monster so they were eager to see the video.  Even my 7 year old got pulled away from his homework to check out what his little brothers were watching.  I made a quick video that showcases a little bit of what you will get if you bought the Cookie Monster USB drive.

As you can see from the video, my boys were completely sucked in by Cookie Monster.  My two year old thought that it was the coolest thing ever.  He was so excited while he was watching it.  A couple hours later he asked to watch it again.  It kept him entertained for quite awhile.  I will admit, he did try to figure out ways to mess with my computer while he was watching it but he wasn't able to do anything that messed with the function of the video, which believe me, he tried.

As for the wearable factor of this product I would say that it wouldn't be a great idea for two, maybe even three year olds, and younger.   Personally I would worry about where they would take it if they got really comfortable with carrying it around with them.  I know that my little guy likes to hide or throw away items that are this small and some I never find.  Obviously with something of this nature I would recommend only putting copies of files on the USB and keeping permanent files on a separate drive.  That way if for some reason it was lost or stolen you wouldn't be kicking yourself that there were precious memories stored on it that weren't retrievable.

Overall I think that the Sesame Street USB drives would make a great gift for kids that love Sesame Street, or ones that for some strange reason have never seen it.  Because let's face it, Sesame Street is mesmerizing.  It was when I was a kid and it still is today.  For more information about this product and to see all the videos that are available please visit www.sesamestreetusb.com.
